Dairy Queen (Treat) — Local services in Ottawa

This is the very first Dairy Queen location I ever visited, as a child over 40 years ago. It is not a restaurant, but rather a "shack" or cargo container. It is still terrifyingly stupid to get to, from all directions but one, but I knew that before we went. I got a chili cheese dog (I had to ask if they sold them). My wife and daughter each got ice cream. Both of their items were not listed on the greatly obscured menu. Firstly, the food items were good. Or at least, as expected. Secondly, however, the menu sucks. By that, I mean that several (at least) items are not listed on the barely visible menu. It's on the inside of the "shack". I had to peer through a window and screen to catch a glimpse. Whatever. Post the full menu! Outside of that, the girl was friendly. No bathroom. Dirty benches if you really wanted to...

I am disappointed with Dairy Queen. A couple times a year I treat myself to a large chocolate dipped cone. It is as good as it's always been but the size has changed....it's definitely smaller....more like a medium.....and it's expensive.

The cone is also not as pretty as it used to be. A few year's ago they made a cone for me but it wasn't well formed and looked lumpy and they offered to make me a new one without me saying anything. I said no no, it's OK and they gave it to me at no charge. They had some pride in their presentation. Now they don't seem to care and it's more of a 'give us your money and here is your ugly cone, now go away.'

At that price as might as well get the 99 cent cone at McDonald, it's cheaper and I get better service. It's just the chocolate...

Disappointed and concerned.

I ordered a burger from the DQ at 2025 Robertson Rd, and what I received was absolutely unacceptable. The meat patty had strange white and gray spots that made it look spoiled or improperly stored. It was completely unappetizing and raised serious concerns about food safety and hygiene.

As a long-time DQ customer, this experience was deeply disappointing. I expected better quality control from an established brand like Dairy Queen. This isn’t just about poor quality—it’s about customer health.

I sincerely hope the management takes this seriously and improves their standards. Until then, I won’t be returning—and I wouldn’t recommend this...
