I shop here because I live across the street but no longer. Went in the store to pick up a few flyer items and some essentials. Western family 1 kg thick cut bacon on for $9.99... get in the store and they have none. I walk up to the employee stocking shelves, wait for them to finish a conversation with another save on foods worker (annoying), then show him the item on my phone and ask if he knows where it is... he says "were sold out, but I suggest you take this Mitchell's 1 kg pack, the price says $12.99 but it is scanning through for $9.99" I say okay, and finish shopping and go to the till. The girl rings the item through and it is $12.99. I explain the situation and she calls the supervisor and supervisor says nope we cant to that for the Mitchell's.. Okay, so I ask can I substitute 2, 500 g packs of western family thick cut bacon and get the deal... no way. I took my bags and left the store. I get home and call the manager and explain this exact situation and he walks over to the cooler and says they have 1 kg packs in a separate location. So instead of the employee who didn't know finding someone who might, they lied to me, and then the manager refused a substitution for identical products. I spend $200.00 per week here, but I'll happily take my business elsewhere and actually save. Co-op and Sobeys will both do an item swap in this circumstance. A second thing that pisses me off is they put yellow sale price tags on items, but if you look under the sticker that is the items normal price (they had done this with the 500 g packs of bacon in this...
Read moreVery nice store. All items usually fresh and price is soo reasonable especially card price sometimes really awesome. Staffs are soo friendly, especially branch manager name "Rob". Infact, I lost one of my shopping receipt for my company's purchased from save on food. Purchase was done last month. I asked staffs and senior guy working in save on food to get me the receipt, however they said it won't be possible to issue the receipt for item purchased last month. At a same time, the branch manager, Rob was listening this conversation from bit far and then he entered into the conversation and said to me Yes it is possible. He not only search and issue the receipt but also teach his staff about how to retrieve the receipt copy from system. What is nice gentlemen he is. Upon asking, he said, he has been working in save on food past 22 years. Company shall consider this person as "Gems" and utilize his skills and customer dealing knowledge as a role as corporate/senior manager position, which can be valuable for all branches on...
Read moreTo the woman working in the produce section today: a little friendliness goes a long way. If you’re unable to show basic courtesy to customers, it might be best to take the day off rather than take it out on the people you’re supposed to be helping.
When a customer politely asks for help locating an item in a grocery store, the expected response is to assist—either by helping them find it or asking a colleague if you’re unsure. What is absolutely not acceptable is telling the customer to find it themselves, or worse, mocking them for speaking a language different from your own.
On a much more positive note, thank you to the gentleman who stepped in, guided me kindly, and actually did his job with professionalism. I truly hope you’re recognized for your excellent customer service and continue to grow within the company—you deserve it.
Save-On-Foods, this experience was incredibly disappointing and unacceptable. I will not...
