Have had Brunello on my list for some time. Played last week. First I'll start by saying we arrived early to have lunch at the clubhouse. Food was excellent and very good service. An excellent start to the day

Went to practice area. While I think a course of this nature should have grass range areas not mats, I was ok with it. Practice bunkers, chipping and putting areas were great.

The course given NS is in a drought was in very good shape. Greens were fast and well manicured.

Many of the holes are blind tee shots with weird narrow landing areas. Not a huge deal with the GPS in cart and like challenging courses but feel too many of these holes exist

Lastly, and hugely disappointing was after 9, the 2 members we were playing with left. Just 2 of us to play back nine. On hole 11, several golf carts full of people and an instructor drove 2 holes ahead of us. From hole 13 onwards he was giving lessons on the course in front of the foursome ahead of us. They left in frustration

This left us waiting on holes 13 thru 18 10+ mins as lessons were being done, all the while no one was behind us for 3-4 holes.

Golf etiquette would suggest letting us play through quickly, but he didn't. We called the clubhouse and they told us too bad as we were playing too quickly and caught up. I just paid $178 to play a round of golf to stand behind lessons for a 1/3 of the round. They said they'd try to call him which I believe they did as on the next hole, they proceeded to get slower for the remaining holes. Again no offer to allow players to play through. Mentioned it to staff outside at cart return. While they're only kids, one proceed to laugh at us when I told them of the poor customer service.

Brunello wiped their hands clean of it. Basically told us too bad for us. And that was it.

So, restaurant and service staff in clubhouse 9.5/10 Course - 8/10 mostly on incredible greens Value for money - 3/10 With practice facilities, greens and challenge it commands a higher price. Feel like you're in people backyards and blind fairways. But within 1 hour of Halifax there are equally quality courses such as Chester, Truro etc for half the price. Customer Service - 0/10 - 'high end' course with pretentious and rude customer service. Customer is always wrong and at fault. You expect at least some acknowledgement such as I'm sorry or we'll get them to let you play through (standard golf etiquette) but didn't happen. So I'll direct my money to other courses who are more appreciative of the money and offer a good experience and better value...

This is a nice but extremely difficult golf course to the point of unfair for most golfers. To start, there is a large variance from one set of tees to the next. White for example, are 5970 yards and jump to 6500+ for Blues. I, at a 9 handicap, felt 6500+ would be long with the usual wind and threat of danger. Whites felt very short. Same gap exists for White to Green. The course is still relatively new. Most tee boxes are a mess and greens are hard making it difficult to stop the ball in most cases. Speed of the greens is great and consistent. The course is visually appealing and each hole is it’s own. Where the trouble comes in is the narrow fairways and challenging bumps and slopes which often push everything to the woods. The rough is not wide and is very deep. After that it’s the rough and tumble trees and underbrush of Nova Scotia so be prepared to say good bye to at least 2 sleeves of balls. Top it all off with 8-10 false front greens. I’m not sure who this course was designed for but it’s not the amateur golfer. It would be very discouraging if I were a local homeowner and this was my home course. Pro shop staff seemed uninspired and low on motivation but the staff on beverage carts and in the restaurant were fabulous. Do it once but after that you’ll likely be like me and say thanks...

Disappointing Club Rental Experience. While on holidays, my fiancé and I recently played a round at your course and rented clubs for the day. While the course itself was in amazing shape, we were very disappointed with the club rentals, specifically the women's set. The men's rental set included a full 13 clubs, while the women's set had only 9. When I asked a clubhouse attendant if my set was missing clubs, I was told that the women's set was "complete" and if I wanted more clubs, I'd have to use the men's clubs. It's unfair to provide a significantly smaller number of clubs in the women's set while charging the same price as the full men's set. This practice creates an uneven playing field and makes the experience less enjoyable for any female rental customers. For a golf course that prides itself on being welcoming to all, this felt discriminatory. Providing a full 13-club set for both men and women, or adjusting the price to reflect the difference in equipment, would make your club rental options more equitable and show that you value all of your...

EDIT: Been back a few times now to play and to practice. Updating from 4 to 5 stars. The course and practice facilities are consistently in fantastic shape. The area is under active construction / development, yes, but that shouldn't really affect my rating of the course which is tough and beautiful. A well-maintained and TOUGH course. As things stand at the time of writing (May 2018) the grounds and surrounding area are really, really rough and under development. I'll be curious to see what the facilities and surrounding area look like when all the construction, debris, and grounds are finished. This is a very unforgiving course and, as such, I wouldn't recommend it for high handicappers. GPS is provided in the power carts which is nice. You can also see the position of the carts ahead of you on blind par 4s and 5s. All in all, a nice course, though I'd only make it a "regular" player due to my proximity to Timberlea. As I said, hopefully the place will be gorgeous when finished, but expect to see dirt, rocks, debris and heavy equipment for now.

Beautiful long course (7000+ yards) which favours long hitters. However, at times, its better to put away the driver and use a more conservative approach as the rough is thick and tight to the course. Stunning rock outcrops litter the course which combined with some deep bunkers, well placed water hazards, and blind tee boxes are challenging. Fairways and greens are in fabulous condition so far this season. An added perk this season is the addition of all new (and very quiet) golf carts. Staff are friendly and helpful as well. The only drawback is the ongoing construction.

Best kept secret in Timberlea. Great little place to eat with quality portions. Amazing fish and chips without loading up on just chips. The seafood chowder is the best I’ve tasted in all of HRM, including my mom’s! They also have burgers, pasta and butter chicken. Everything I’ve ever had has been really good. It also has a great view of the golf course and surrounding areas with outdoor dining and fire pits.
