The hidden gem: I'm not sure how famous this small beach is, but there seemed to be plenty of people - so, probably not as hidden! We had taken a paddleboard lesson from Toronto SUP that starts in the backwater and then they take you out into the lake where you can see the city skyline. This is where we first noticed this small cozy beach. So, we checked it out on google maps and decided to go there the next time. The beach itself is pretty small, might be suitable for maximum 3-4 small groups. We got lucky and it was empty when we reached - (tip: try to get there early). We saw signage that indicated a permit was needed for overnight camping. The day we went, there was a rave happening on the side - DJ with 4 large speakers and definitely 30+ people. Seems like a good place to party, not sure how the permits work. The water is shallow and great to laze around. The views are amazingly good! It seems safe to keep your things by the beach area and there is sufficient area to have a picnic/drink (not spacious!) Overall Verdict: Definitely worth checking out, although I do wish that this remains unnoticed!

Lovely wee Island for a picnic with stunning views of the cityscape. Watching planes land with the downtown buildings as a backdrop is pretty great. There are multiple stables to have a picnic spread on and bins to dispose off any rubbish

More-or-less secluded part of the Islands. Nice for watching the sunset with your friend group

A cute island, perfect for a quite walk to reflect on life and it’s beautiful intricate ways. I’ve heard stories of a one eyed snake who roams these parts looking for unsuspecting travellers to bite on the lips but these stories are as old as the island is beautiful and although it’s fun to tell them by a campfire you cannot always believe what you hear.

There are seats and a BBQ available for you, overnight camping is possible with a permit but who is going to stop you if you don’t get a permit? Someone probably but maybe not right?

Please clean up after yourself because the world doesn’t belong to you and you ruin it for other people when you litter let’s have pride in our community even if life isn’t...
