Read moreToronto Island is one of my favorite place. From the last 7 years I visited there so many times. But last visit on 16th of July was very unpleasant, because of some Indian festival, which was scheduled for 16 and 17 July. And because of that reason the whole park was overly crowded, so much that we could not be able to enjoy some of the rides in Centerville Park and we have to wait 3 hours in the queue for the return ferry. That was not enough, as they were chanting some hindu religion slogans very loudly on loudspeakers whole day. They drink so much that they start to eve teasing and bullying other religion ladies. One incident happened in front of me on the ferry boat during return journey. Thankfully those ladies keep there patients, otherwise that incident could have turned in to very unpleasant one like riot. My wife always use to say that she don't want to return from the park, she says that I hope we could make a house over there. But for the first time she say that now she do not like this place. I think that other people also may be having same feeling. Because Toronto Island is a place where people like us get recreation and forget our physical and mental stress after week long work.
Its my request to the authority of the parks to not to allow such kind of festivals which could disturb the serenity of the park. And another thing to check before allowing, as what kind of festival, as on that day the festival was not Indian festival but it was Hindu religion festival. I am not against of that religion, as I believe its a peaceful religion, but those people at the park were miscreants and were creating disturbance...
Read moreProbably my favourite part of 5-day Toronto visit. Roundtrip ferry ($9.11) from Jack Layton Ferry terminal, just west of the Westin Harbour Castle, can take you ~20-25 minutes to Centre Island, Ward Island, or Harlan Point (Billy Bishop Toronto Island Airport) - and clothing optional beach (just south of the airport).
Gorgeous photo opportunities on short ferry trip, and on whichever Island you visit... All Islands are connected, and bike rentals are available on Centre Island only. Lockers are available nearby for your stuff as you peddle on well maintained paths with good signage.
Definitely worth a visit... really helped me decompress last day before heading home.
Clothing optional beach is very large with excellent signage, with more isolated smaller beaches to the south.
Ward Island is residential with beautiful homes and a very cool "community closet" where residents donate food, clothing, housewares, books for others to use for free - a...
