Very disorganized and unprofessional staff. Every time I went I had to stand there for 10-15 minutes waiting because the front desk is crowded with people, and the other staff that are standing there doing nothing don't approach to help out.
First time I went for the fitting, the staff lazily gave me some template sizes to try. When I said the pants were tight he told me that they would just let them out a bit. I was a bit concerned, but decided to not comment further as they should know their products best. Lo and behold, the pants did not fit after the alterations were done. They took them back for alterations again, and told me to come back another day.
Once they were ready again (two days before the wedding) I came in and they still did not fit (they were so tight I couldn't even sit down or bend to tie my shoes. Instead of trying to fix the situation that this store caused, he told me "well that's how European fits are. You can either take it and be miserable during the wedding, or get a refund and not be part of the wedding party." Not sure who gave him the authority to make changes to the wedding party, but after telling him that those aren't solutions, he complained that the only other potential option would be to ruin another suit in order to get bigger pants that could fit me, but he didn't want to do that.
After back and forth on the issue he ended up conceding and doing this, but not before letting me know that he was upset about it, like it's my fault they didn't fit me properly. Once he brought the new pants, they of course needed to be altered. He told me that the tailors had left for the day and that they would have to do it the next day. Given it was two days before the wedding, and I had to go to the rehearsal dinner the next day (in Guelph), I told him that I wouldn't have time to pick up the suit before the wedding so it had to be that day. After more of him trying to convince me to pick it up the next day and me telling him I wasn't able to, a tailor magically appeared and was able to quickly hem the pants. The fit wasn't that great, but at that point I just wanted to be done with the whole process.
Generally they ask customers to give them a good review in exchange for a free pair of socks (likely why they have so many good reviews). They didn't ask me to do this, probably so that I wouldn't remember to review and give a negative one. Instead, as I was leaving the staff that was helping me thanked me for not being an a-hole about the whole situation because he could have easily not helped me out if I had done that.
The rest of the wedding party i was a part of also had issues with getting their suits including alterations not being done when they said they were done, suit being big enough to fit two people after the alterations were done, or them not having the shirt for one guy when he went to pick up his suit. One of the guys even received a completely different vest, which we didn't notice until we were all putting on our suits the day of the wedding! Safe to say, I will never shop here again, and will not recommend...
Read moreMy groomsmen and I had absolutely bizarre experiences shopping for wedding suits at 4MenUnited. I went with one of my groomsmen for my initial fitting. I'm a taller/thicker guy and finding a well-fitting suit off the rack has been a challenge in the past. The groomsman I went with is average height with a slim, athletic build. The sales associate had no problem sizing my groomsman, letting him try on several different style and colour options, and ignoring me completely. I eventually cut in and ask the sales associate if it wasn't too much trouble for me to try on a couple of suits to get my size and see some style/colour options. It appeared to be a nuisance to the sales associate that he had to trouble himself sizing a bigger guy (fewer options in larger sizes in stock). I was able to try on a total of two suits, one of which was my size but not in the colour we had tentatively selected. Eventually we decided on a colour and style and prepaid our deposits, with me (the groom) placing an order for a suit that I had never actually tried on. I can only blame myself for not looking elsewhere at that point...
My other groomsmen went in for their fittings over the following weeks, and all had the same feedback: the fitting and ordering processes were amusingly disorganized, the staff (in particular the owners) were arrogant, aloof, and unhelpful, and the actual garment quality was average at best. With regard to suit quality and given that 4MenUnited's starting price point is considerably cheaper than most other formalwear retailers - we all unanimously agreed that you get what you pay for.
Of my 6 groomsmen, upon picking up their suits only one was actually "allowed" to pick up his tie and pocket square. The rest were told they all have to be picked up together by the groom. The inconsistent messaging was frustrating to say the least, considering neither I nor my groomsmen live in Vaughan.
In the end I elected to forfeit the deposit on my suit (unbeknownst to 4MenUnited) and purchase my wedding suit from Suitsupply in Yorkville, where the staff and entire shopping experience were incredible. Losing my deposit at 4MenUnited was a small price to pay to ensure that I got married in a high-quality suit from a retailer who respects me and my time.
The entire shopping experience at 4MenUnited was a profound disappointment. It's possible that my expectations were simply too high, or perhaps 4MenUnited simply prefers a different type of customer. I will admit 4MenUnited's complimentary espresso is quite good...unfortunately it also seems to be their only strong suit (pun intended).
The most shocking part of all this is that 4MenUnited still has not called me (the groom) to let me know if my wedding suit or the remaining ties and pocket squares are ready for pickup. I got married over a month ago.
Update: my wife and I will be celebrating our 2 year marriage anniversary this month (October 2025). Still waiting to hear if my wedding suit is...
Read moreMy experience with 4MU was nothing but from perfection. From the moment I walked in with my Fiancée we greeted with a coffee and shown to the bespoke section to meet with Carlo.
I told Carlo the vision I had for my wedding suit and he showed me all the different fabrics they had (Which is an INSANE amount to choose from!) to make sure that the suit was exactly how I wanted it to be.
Carlo didn’t cut corners when it came to making that vision come true, he stayed with us until I had made my final decision on the fabric and the mock up of my suit was complete.
A few months before the wedding Carlo called me and told me the suit was in and was ready for final fitment. I could tell in his voice how genuine he was when he was saying the suit looked amazing. I came down right away and to no surprise the suit was UNBELIEVABLE. We did the final measurements and I came back a week or 2 later and the suit fit PERFECTLY in all the right places.
Now this is where 4MU and Carlo are an astronomically a cut above the rest, wedding day service. He told me he would come and get me prepped for my big day, I told him it was downtown and he said that didn’t matter, just let him know and he’d come down. He messaged me a week before to get the details for the hotel and the timeline.
Then on my wedding day Carlo drove down from the shop to our hotel downtown and helped prep and style my suit with all my accessories and made all the minor adjustments I needed to be camera ready.
Our photographer was running a little behind to our room and Carlo was fine sticking around until she was available. In the interim he helped all my groomsmen get ready and taught them what to do if there were any mishaps with boutonnières or pocket squares throughout the night. When she got there, the attention to detail he had to make sure everything looked perfect was incredible.
The amount of compliments I got from my guests about my attire was crazy! Depending what angle and what lighting you saw it from, it could look black or green. Everyone wanted to inspect it and see the design. I couldn’t be happier with the way the suit and the day turned out.
Overall it was a 10/10 experience and anyone and everyone I know will be recommended to go to 4 Men United to get their suits...
