A more depressing port you could not find. I hate giving bad reviews, and look for any redeeming qualities, and on this occasion there are none.
The waiting hall is dirty and featureless, with god damn uncomfortable seats, and nowhere near enough for the number of passengers.
The toilets are abysmal.
And the staff are, understandably miserable and unhelpful.
We visited 3 times, one time we arrived 1 hour earlier than the alloted 2 hours before departure time. We weren't allowed to wait in the hall and were told to wait on the street outside. We did, then at the alloted time were told the ferry was delayed by 12 hours. I don't understand why she didn't tell us that in the first instance, or put a note on the door, rather than make us wait 1 hour.
That was bad enough, but I was really really poorly and although not elderly, not far off. It's an awful place but I suppose necessary for travel...
Read moreWe had a Ferry travel from Sal to Boa vista in August. Boat time was horrible from 12am to 3 am Place was very crowded also if low season without any structural way to make check in. Port is totally isolated without any bar or information area. Be very early in time because boat starts without clear schedule. It took quite a lot to check in and we was not sure how all will work till end. After leaving bags to a track, you should walk all around the port to take the ferry. There is no sign neither any support from port people there and we just followed local people. Ferry trip was very difficult with many people sleeping in every place and some playing music very loud for all night trip. Overall not a nice experience but the cheapest way to travel between these...

This bustling fishing port embodies the spirit of the island with its lively atmosphere and colorful scenery. The local fishermen are friendly and more than happy to share stories of the sea, which adds a personal touch to the visit.
The port itself is very accessible and easy to navigate, ensuring that even first-time visitors can find their way around without any hassle. Watching the fishermen expertly handle their daily catch and observing the seamless operation at the docks was a true highlight. The sense of community here is palpable, and it's clear the locals take pride in their work...
