This was one of the most beautiful and well put together units our family has stayed in. The resort has amazing views, and an exceptional design. The pool was small, but very cool. It’s open 24 hours, so great for lap swimming in the early morning. The beach is not the soft seven-mile beach sand; but it is a great beach, it’s clean, and it was fun (water shoes recommended). Right next door is also Rum Point Club which gives you a more sandy beach and more of a “touristy” feel. You can walk over to it in less than 2 minutes. Having a full kitchen helped with grocery shopping for the week. Loved the unit and felt at home through the say. There are a few things to take into consideration before booking. 1. The resort is roughly 50 minutes away from the seven-mile beach area. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place for you. But if you are looking for shops, dinning, activities, and to explore this is not the place. 2. The are limited dining options in the area. The hotel had one chef (who was great and full of energy), but not much to choose from. The other options close by are pretty expensive for daily choices while on vacation. 3. You will need a car; there is almost nothing within walking distance to this hotel. Overall, the staff was friendly, the hotel provided snorkel equipment, management was professional, and I can’t convey enough just how beautiful the units are. Definitely a 5 star hotel in a more secluded location. If this is your first time to grand cayman (I would not recommend this hotel as your first experience). If you need to get away from the world in a beautiful and safe environment, this is the one for you. If you are on a couples retreat and want to turn your phone off and relax, this is also definitely the place for you. If you have young kids who just want to have fun, I’d recommend the...
Read moreI am at 3.5 stars for Rum point, but since I can't give half a star it's going to be three really just to provide a counterpoint to some of the overly positive reviews.
1 . The condos are lovely and well appointed. Some small things would make them more usable, such as more hooks / racks to hang wet stuff. It would also be nice to have a coffee pot to use that doesn't say it needs to be descaled. The pool is EXTREMELY narrow. There were two older kids playing catch in it, and I was honestly afraid one of them was going to hit their head just jumping from side to side to catch the ball. It's also all five feet deep (except the 12 inch tanning ledge), so nowhere for younger kids to touch. The snorkel gear you can borrow is disorganized and a lot of it is broken. One of the reasons we chose this place was that they have an onsite restaurant/bar. We were informed before arrival that the chef quit, and the restaurant is shut. While I feel horrible for them about this, honestly I expected a discount on the stay as in more of a remote area, we really wanted a restaurant/coffee shop/bar onsite. Edited to add: The vendor says they offered the option to cancel or move, I've gone back to my email about this and it was not offered. The service is acceptable at best. The people we encountered were fine, but not anywhere close to the level of warmth we felt almost everywhere else on the island.
We ultimately enjoyed our stay just fine, but we won't be rushing back, and I wanted to provide a few realistic criticisms amongst the glowing feedback...
Read moreAfter having seamlessly booked our stay at Rum Point Club Resort through Cayman Villas & Condos, we had great expectations for our two week vacation. All of those expectations were greatly exceeded. From the moment of our arrival and the warm greeting we received from the staff, to the day of our departure, we could not have been more happy with our time at Rum Point Club Resort. The arrival procedures at the resort were well communicated and the condo and the resort were impeccably clean upon our arrival. Our unit was fabulous; comfortable, well designed and appointed, with spectacular views from our patio. The staff at Rum Point Club Resort is top notch, meeting all of our needs and requests.
If you’re looking to enjoy the Caymans, away from the crowds of Seven Mile Beach, the Rum Point area is where you want to be, There are great restaurants in the area: Solis, Kaibo, and Tukka on the East End to name a few. and all of the water sports excursions are available through Red Sail Sports next door at Rum Point Club. FYI, the snorkeling right off the beach at Rum Point Club Resort was amazing with lots of stingrays, turtles, tarpon, barracuda, and other tropical wonders to be seen.
While the Rum Point Club Resort has a shuttle service that will provide transport around the local area, we would strongly suggest that you rent a car to facilitate getting around the island. (PS Driving on the left was no great challenge).
Bottom line, we’ll be going back to Rum Point Club Resort, and will surely be looking to book our stay with Cayman...
