After a long hiatus, due to the Pandemic, I was back in Shanghai to see old friends. I also wanted to buy several items that friends back home asked me for, and I knew that for that I had to go to the famous "Fake Mall". Having visited it in 2019 I expected big changes like many stores closed or less attractive merchandise. Nothing like that. Everything looks just like it did 5 years ago. I was tasked to buy some ornamental jewelry and also a pearl collar. After walking through I settled on 2 stores where I found some great selection and prices (after the customary haggling). For the first items it was Cathy Jewelry at B1-27 and for the pearls it was Lily Jewelry at F-6. Both ladies speak pretty good English and were more than helpful, really taking their time with me, even though other customers walked in. I guess when you treat people as people, with respect, and not just as sales persons, then you can expect to be treated the same way. They were so helpful even after the sale, one accompanying me all the way in that big mall to a shoe store that she recommended (they didn't have my size for the shoes where the shoe size is printed on them, like the picture) and the other lady walking me through the maze to a clean rest room. Both of them were so sweet. I told them I would come back on my next trip, even if it's just to have some...

The king of all markets. You can find anything you are looking for here! Most things are replicas, and they will tell you that if you ask. You can easily fill up a suitcase full of goods if you get carried away with shopping. Tons of souvenir goods here

I would go on YouTube and watch people Barter if you aren’t good with getting prices down. Don’t be afraid to walk away as they are always looking to make a deal! Be aware that most copied higher end goods are in the back in some random suitcases. All you have to do is ask if they have it and they will invite you in, around a corner in their shop where there are no windows. It can get intimidating if you are by yourself and begin to haggle. Had one lady block the entry way and the other talk about price. The lady wouldn’t move to let me out! I find it funny and ended up what I wanted for the item but some people could find it frightening. Take a friend and have each other’s back when haggling! Wouldn’t pay more then 150...

This is a Market like Palika bazaar of Delhi. All fake market. Electronic gadjets , watches , bags , suitcases clothes you name it . There are about 500 shops and each one will lure you. They speak Hindi too as many Indian come here for Cheap purchases. You must have good skills for negotiation to ask for 10 percent rate and walk away. I have been here in 2019 and now last week. You can be choosy and can get some good things...Got a good Laptop bag ..Suitcase large size , some e gadjets.. U just feel good to negotiate and buy. At the end after a few days you always feel that I have paid more...but it's for a Dopamine high for a few days.! There is a Starbucks and 7-11 shop too. Locals do not know this market though ! ...

Huge Chinese market with all fake stuff. Although I must say it is very very hard to spot the difference. The quality of the products are also fairly good. They are tough people to bargain with though, usually women and they don’t speak English very well. Starting prices are usually around the original price, so bargain hard and definitely walk away because they will never let you go. Just stand your ground and you will walk away here with nice products for a cheap price. Everything is findable here! Electronics, clothing, accessories,... Really easy to find, because it is located at the metro station itself, ‘Science’.
