Mold everywhere and management is off!

This stay was unacceptable on multiple levels and caused tremendous inconvenience: Check-in and communication issues – The initial booking and check-in communication process took more than two hours, which was unnecessarily time-consuming. Severe mold and poor room condition – Upon entering the assigned room, there was a strong mold odor. Both the cabinets and chairs were visibly moldy, and the bathroom cabinets were rotten and decayed. Despite spending over three hours with hotel staff to try to resolve this matter, no effective solution was provided. Special requests ignored – At the time of booking, I had specifically noted a request for a higher floor and that the stay was for a birthday celebration. However, none of these requests were honored, and there were no welcome amenities such as a fruit plate or birthday cake, which was very disappointing. Complete lack of amenities for three guests – The reservation was clearly for three guests, yet the room was missing all basic amenities, including water glasses, toothbrushes, bathrobes, mouthwash cups, slippers, and towels. Even after repeatedly requesting the missing items, the hotel delivered the wrong amenities four times before finally getting it correct.

The combination of these issues resulted in a deeply unpleasant experience that is far below the standards I expect from Marriott. What should have been a comfortable and celebratory stay instead became a source of stress and...

Our family recently stayed at the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai for a week, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality, and throughout our stay, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

The room was spacious and offered a stunning view of the city – a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. One of the highlights was the themed rooms with adorable teddy bears, which our daughter absolutely loved! The hotel truly made a lot of effort to make her feel special, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful touches.

The entire team at the hotel was incredible – nothing was too much trouble, and they always made sure we were comfortable. It’s rare to find such genuine care and attention to detail.

During our recent stay. We discovered what appeared to be blood near the wash basin, which was quite unsettling, especially as our child was sleeping at the time. Out of concern for our child's safety, we chose not to contact room service and instead used the other basin. The following morning, I reported the issue to the staff in the executive lounge and shared photos of the situation. I appreciate the prompt attention given to the matter, including a phone call from the manager to apologize. However, I was disappointed to find that such a lapse in cleanliness occurred at a JW Marriott property.
