Pinjiang Road was hands down one of the most unforgettable parts of my Suzhou trip. From the moment I stepped onto the cobbled path beside the quiet canal, I felt like I had traveled back in time. The traditional architecture, charming stone bridges, and reflections on the water created such a calm, storybook atmosphere. I spent hours just walking, pausing every now and then to take photos — every corner felt like a perfect shot waiting to happen.
The little shops were full of surprises — handmade crafts, calligraphy, embroidered items, and even unique local snacks. I picked up a couple of beautiful silk bookmarks and some Suzhou-style sweets to bring home. There were also lovely tea houses where I sat and sipped floral tea while watching the world go by — so simple, but so peaceful.
And the food! I tried some delicious street snacks like osmanthus cakes and freshly steamed buns. The flavors were light and authentic, just like the surroundings. There were also small restaurants tucked into old buildings, serving homemade-style Suzhou dishes that felt like comfort food with history.

The street was quite long and took us about 1 hour plus to walk from one end to the other. It's really beautiful and teleports you back to ancient China while walking. You can see ladies in ancient wear with their hired photographers doing photo shoot.
I missed out the couple's garden as the heat was really too much for us folks and would love to return to check that out. You can get drinks, food and souvenirs from the stores along...
Read moreVisit to Pingjiang Road and the adjacent Grand Canal area is very much worth the trip. You will find yourself in an intricate network of narrow canals, bridges and barges as if you were in Venice. You will get a chance to get a sneak peek view of the old traditional China with many now almost forgotten handicraft and traditional artisans. You will meet here especially women in the original traditional Chinese silk costumes. This being a very popular tourist area you must be prepared for occasional crowd...
