Wow. What can I say? Within 5 minutes of walking into their store to enquire about a bike, I was laughing and joking with Kelly like we'd known each other for years. She was so down to earth, and yet professional. She explained how they would train me up on the e-bike (I'd never ridden an electric bike) before I'd decide if it was right for me. The next day, she gave me great instructions, got me to try out the various functions etc. I loved it! The bikes themselves are modern, clean and well looked after. Everything was included - helmet, lock, electric charger etc. No extra charges and zero upselling - in fact, the opposite, cos she offered me 2-3 day hire for almost nothing more. What's more, they shut on the weekends and yet, she offered to meet me on Sat so I could return the bike. Wow. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I was wrong - check this - on Sat, Shannon came to handle the return and I noticed that the lock on the bike was damaged. I thought it was something I had done wrong and offered to pay for it. Not only did he laugh it off, but when he discovered i was leaving for the airport soon, he offered me a lift! I couldn't believe it. These guys know what customer service is and how a business should be run. Incredible.
Oh and here's a photo of the bad boy - no, not Shannon, but...
Read moreThese guys are great. There eBike is perfect for the island. The company is great with friendly staff but I'll talk about the bike. It's a bafang 300W rear hub drive with a 36/13000 battery giving it a good 468Wh of storage. In pas range is good for upto 60km, if peddling is not your thing then twist the throttle for a nice 35-37kph cruising speed. Charger is a bit slow at 2A giving it a 6.5 hour minimum charge time from flat. Every hour of charging will give you about 7-10km of range as a ball park figure. Use the trip meter to get your distance figures. Handle bars and seat is quick adjustable, no angle adjustment on the seat was my only gripe. These bikes are great for the island, if you don't ride scooters seriously consider these as your primary mode of transport here, even if you do scooter these are so much more enjoyable. They hire out quickly so don't procrastinate, I would suggest you book ahead. These bikes go about as fast as the traffic on the island, remember these are electric, if you need to pull to the side, let traffic pass and get back on the throttle.
I took the 1.5 hour island tour on our first day to get to know the island (that's how I found out about the eBikes). Great way to get a feeling...
Read moreGreat service from start to end. We hired bikes for a couple of days and Kelly gave us a great introduction to the bikes and guidance for riding them. Cycling around Rarotonga is a great way to see the island, and with these e-bikes it is even easier as you can just get a bit of help on those hills or when you are tired at the end of a long day, or more if you want it. As a couple in their 60s we easily managed 56km in a day (almost enough to circle the island twice!) It is really safe to cycle and drivers on the island are very patient and wait behind you until it is safe for them to pass giving you plenty of room Unlike some places the cost includes everything you need from helmets, insurance and breakdown help if you need it (although we happily didn't), and you can remove the battery to charge it in your room overnight. All in all we can't...
