We were recommended to the Sunset Resort and couldn't have been happier with it. It is an adults only resort. The staff and management are all so friendly. There are two pools one of which has a bar that opens at 3:30pm, a restaurant and the beach out the front of the resort is excellent for snorkelling. There are sunloungers and hammocks on the beach as well as loungers by the pools. Although the resort was full there were days when we had the beach and pools to ourselves, there never seemed to be many people about. The breakfast is continental - fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast, juice, coffee & tea. You can pay for a cooked breakfast if required. The pool areas are well maintained and clean. We had an upstairs unit which backed on to the main rd and we did notice traffic noise but the roosters on the island can outdo any other noise - they crow 24/7 it seems. One of us was more affected by the roosters crowing than the other. Our first night there, there were also dogs barking until about 3am which was a one off thankfully. We managed to deaden the noise a bit the following nights by shutting the little louvre windows above the door and in the bathroom and keeping the bathroom door closed. We wonder if a ground floor unit would be quieter. The sealing in the shower could do with either being replaced or bleached as it is quite mouldy, other than that, the unit was very clean. We were there over a long weekend which was a public holiday and unfortunately, had the need to buy / get some meds but the chemist was closed so after going to Reception at the resort it was suggested we go to the hospital. The receptionist was amazing and even loaned us a car which was so kind of them as we got to the hospital and they sent us to a health centre so there was no way we could have walked. We were blown away by their kindness. On our last day we had the use of the pool and a bathroom - certainly a great way to spend the hours while waiting to go to the airport. Would definitely recommend the Sunset...

The resort itself is beautiful. Very well maintained, beautiful gardens and stunning pool. Right on the beach, perfect to watch sunsets from. The rooms are immaculate The cleaning staff do a 5 star job! They were so friendly every day with big smiles and a lovely greeting. The rooms have everything you need, fitted out so well with extremely comfy beds! We had a top story room overlooking the pool the patio area is perfect to sit and relax on. Breakfast is very basic but you can order a cooked breakfast, coffee was great (ordered a soy latte every day). Food was lovely in the restaurant had great meals every time! The cons were the rooms are not sound proof, there are metal shutters on the side of the glass sliding doors and mesh behind them, sound travels up so unfortunately for the last 2 nights out of 4 we had a big group of drinkers next to us and below who gathered and were very loud from 3pm to 11pm so it wasn't peaceful and we had no way to shut out the noise. Not the resorts fault of course but if you want peaceful and quiet I'd book down by the beach. The Cook islanders reception staff were absolutely beautiful, Hailey in particular what a gem, she was just a ray of light, so warm and welcoming! The other reception staff (older ladies) didn't really give a welcoming vibe, in fact one totally ignored us twice. For us we travelled 2.5 days to get there so it felt odd to not feel that really welcomed feeling we've experienced elsewhere. You have to carry your own luggage so if you're older factor that in lifting suitcases upstairs or ask for a ground floor room. The bus stop is right out the front which is so handy if you don't hire a car or bike (but wish we had of would have been a lot easier to...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐||We had the most incredible 10-day stay at Sunset Resort – easily one of the best travel experiences we've had! From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our holiday.||The room was spotless and immaculately cleaned daily by the fantastic housekeeping team, and we appreciated the in-room compendium that made settling in effortless. The entire resort is beautifully maintained – the grounds are manicured daily, creating a lush and peaceful atmosphere.||We especially loved The Anchorage Restaurant – the meals were delicious, well-priced, and always served with a smile. The Birdcage Bar became our go-to for happy hour, and the adults-only setting of the resort made it the perfect place to unwind and recharge.||We visited several other resorts during our trip for meals or drinks, and none of them came close to matching the experience we had at Sunset. And of course, the name says it all – the sunsets each evening were absolutely magical.||Huge thanks to Kevin and the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We can't...

We stayed for four nights. I liked the unit, it was spacious, with a balcony overlooking the pool, a small kitchen, lots of cupboards and a decent sized bathroom. The pool was good, with palm trees and rocks around the edges and a deck with chairs and umbrellas at the shallow end. The restaurant was nice with good serving sizes and prompt service. The team on reception were friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing. Deck chairs and hammocks amongst coconut trees on a white sand beach next to the lagoon. Swimming and snorkelling is best at high tide, and reef shoes and snorkel are provided free. It's a great place to watch a sunset with a cocktail. Location-wise, it's close to town and the airport, and there are lots of restaurants and shops a short walk along the road. We used their airport transfer service, which was fine. The downsides were mostly in the bathroom. It wasn't that clean, and some maintenance was well overdue. The safe didn't work. And the Wi-Fi was terrible, though I understand that it is the same all over the Cook Islands.

My wife and I loved this place. We chose it because it was on the west side of the island so we could get incredible sunsets—and we did. Also, it was closer to the airport and away from the crowd of Muri Beach. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Our room was closest to the beach, so it was nice being able to look at the water in the morning. We didn’t notice the roosters in the morning. The morning Breakfast was bread, fruit and cereals. If you wanted something more then there is a bakery right across the street of the hotel. There’s a lot of restaurants within walking distance. Also, the hotel provides reef shoes, but if want to bring your own, we would highly recommend it. The beach side of the hotel was the best. There were hammocks for taking long naps. We recommend sitting in a beach chair or hammock and getting a drink and watching the sunset. Also, they were still working on the pool—not really a big deal as they had another pool. The Sunday bbq was cool and would definitely recommend as their was a good show and yummy buffet.
