Punta Cana Surf Adventure — Local services in Higüey

My husband and I wanted to take surfing lessons while in Punta Cana. We made contact with the owner of Punta Cana Surf Adventure before we booked our trip to ensure we could get a lesson. The correspondence with Saskya (the owner of the surf school) was amazing. She answered all our questions in such a timely manner and in perfect English as well. Our first lesson was amazing. First of all, I had to cancel our original date as I developed an upset stomach the night before the lesson. I emailed Saskya to see if I could possibly postpone our lesson by one day. I received an immediate reply and my wish was granted. The next day we were picked up at our resort by the surf school shuttle. On time and dropped at the door of the most perfect surf beach hut...just like out of an old Gidget and Moondoggie movie. Saskya greeted us and as soon as I introduced myself she had a huge smile on her face and said "Allison, I finally get to put a face to the name." Our day was perfect. We received a lot of one on one instruction even though we were in a group lesson. Staff were professional, enthusiastic and fun. After our lesson, Saskya greeted all the surfers with much enthusiasm and praise. My husband and I had so much fun we didn't want to take the shuttle back to the resort. Saskya arranged for us to have a wonderful lunch on the beach. Her friend Amand made us a delicious chicken, plantain, rice and beans lunch under a palapa on the sand. What more could one want after 2 hours of surfing?? I'll tell you what...Amand made me the most delicious Pina Colada served in a large pineapple. DELICIOUS!! I went surfing again in the afternoon. I was on my own and having more difficultiy than when I was getting advise from my instructor. Saskya came and gave me some tips and was very encouraging. I received above and beyond service. I could go on and on about our experience. In a nut shell, my husband and I returned 2 more times in our last 3 days. Our experience at the Punta Cana Surf Adventure surf school was excellent from start to finish. Macao Beach is a stunning beach and a must see. What a place this is … if i could give a 6th star i would :)

I did 5 trips with the PCSS and loved every second of it. I’m very keen to learn/improve so i was really clear that i wanted feedback after each wave. Saskia (the owner) and Chris (in the picture) were simply amazing. I did pay for the 1-2-1 with Saskia, which i know was more but was well worth the money. Her passion to teach is something that’s very clear to see … and she is amazing at it. I did have a few days with just me and Chris, which i must say were epic too. 2 lads loving life catching some waves on mint conditions … EPIC!

They both did exactly what i asked and came away a much better surfer than when i arrived. My partner went from not wanting to try surfing to loving it too. Most days i cut my session short by 30 mins and Chris took her out on the smaller waves. Come the end she was paddling/popping up and now loves the waves too. Now that’s service!

All the staff were friendly and Gio did a sick job with the photos (well worth buying that package) The drivers who collected us were fab and i really enjoyed meeting the other surfers coming and going with us in the taxi.

Overall this is a wonderful place. A real gem! I can see why they are so highly rated. Will i be back …...

We came from Canada to learn to surf here in Macao with Punta Cana Surf Adventure! It was such a great experience, I would highly recommend anyone in the area to try! Saskya is very warm and kind and easy to communicate with; booking is flexible and you can book through the website or directly. Contact them ahead of time to get any extra information! We stayed in Macao and it was so easy to walk down the beach. It's a gorgeous area, the conditions are great with a shallow sandy safe area with warm ocean temps, and the ability to progress depending on where you position in the bay. We took lessons, then rented every day we could. Lessons were fantastic with the instructors to help us figure out how and get tips and feel what standing is like. Even when we weren't as successful on our own it was so lovely to be floating out on the crystal clear ocean in such a wonderful place. Support this woman-owned local business and challenge yourself with lessons! We plan to come back and introduce our kids to surfing here and it's just so much fun and a great way to enjoy the ocean.
