We did a 5 day trip to the Waorani Territory in Yasuni Nationalpark with Amazon Wildlife Tours and it was the highlight of our trip to Ecuador! If you're adventurous, don't mind sleeping in a tent and love the outdoors - you should definitely visit Yasuni Nationalpark. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth and home to a huge variety of animals and plants. Be prepared to observe the oil industries severe impact while entering the national park through the still growing buffer zone. A sad truth that underlines the importance of protecting Yasuni.
Diego is an incredibly knowledgeable guide, has a background in biology and the national park is his second home. Expect to see macaws, tucans, turtles, monkeys, caimans and peccaries. The jungle is full of life and you never know what you'll discover during the next hike or canoe trip, so always observe the surroundings carefully. If you're very lucky you might also have the chance to spot an anaconda, tapir or an anteater. We definitely recommend staying 5 or 6 days, since you'll be able to visit the heart of the national park. The trip was well-organized, John cooked delicious food for us and fresh drinking water was provided. Camping was cozy, but don't expect hot showers - you'll be in jungle!
This trip will always remain in our memories!! Thanks a lot to Amazon Wildlife Tours for this unique experience, in particular thanks to Diego for being the best guide we could have wished for :) Once you've seen the beauty of Yasuni you'll realize (even more) why the protection of this national park is so important and how sustainable tourism can help supporting the...
Read moreOur experience with Amazon Wildlife Tours was amazing from the start. Robert always answered our questions by email, clarifying us. He came to meet us in Coca, before our departure to the Amazon jungle. Then, we continued on our way, in a public boat along the Napo River, together with our guide Eduardo, who accompanied us during the three days we stayed in the Amazon. We loved the experience, it was without a doubt a great adventure that we will keep dearly in our hearts. We didn't see as many animals as we would have liked, but that has its charm too, we are in the Amazon, not in a Zoo. But if we are attentive, it is possible to observe many species of birds, small monkeys (monos), insects, the very flora of the jungle and we even saw a Cayman in its beautiful life in the Limoncocha lagoon. The river boat trips are incredibly beautiful, with all that greenery around. Being in the Kichwa community of Pilche was unique. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming, always smiling and the food is fantastic! Thank you for that! We especially want to thank our guide Eduardo who accompanied us, for all his availability and knowledge. We learned a lot, walked a lot and felt fulfilled enough! In the end, they escorted us to our hotel in Coca, which made us feel safe. For all these reasons, we advise you to choose Amazon Wildlife Tours for your jungle adventure! Obrigado from...
