Very moving, modern museum detailing American participation in the WW1 battles near here. Stunning views over all of the surrounding countryside. We rode bikes up from Chateau Thierry and you only have two choices: a narrow and very busy highway or the Chemin du Henry, the latter being the route suggested by Google Maps for bikes. It is not a road, however, but starts out as a grassy path that deteriorates into a narrow, stony path that you can't ride on without a proper mountain bike. If you happen to be in this part of France while enjoying the vineyards and take a second to come and see this world war I battle monument to the American and French forces that help liberate the country. If you happen to come early in the morning the view is spectacular and it is very quiet serene place. The monument itself is spectacular with half being in French and half being an English. Whether you plan to just walk around or check out the museum underneath you can't go wrong...

Magnificent memorial to the men of the American Divisions who helped halt the last major German offensive on the Western Front during the Great War and then participated in a counter offensive alongside their French allies.

The memorial is situated in an imposing position on Hill 204 overlooking and to the west of Chateau-Thierry. There is a small but interesting museum which is free to visit in the base of the monument on the right hand side as you look at the monument from the...

The memorial is situated in an imposing position on Hill 204 overlooking and to the west of Chateau-Thierry.
