If you're an American and speak little to no french, do not go here. I went in for severe abdominal pain. I was ignored for over 5 hours in the urgencies room after i was told the results of the blood test would be ready in 2 hours. Finally was told they would keep me for a couple days and probably operate. (Um, no way). I went to the room to receive intravenous anti biotics and spent the night. My daughter rebooked our flights. The head nurse initially claimed she spoke no English. Throughout the night I was rudely woken up several times with the normal bp, temp, etc.readings, until the final time the head nurse came in and tugged on my IV. I shot awake in pain. She acted as if I had insulted her. I tried to explain that it hurt but she acted as if she didn't understand. I think she took pleasure in hurting me because she looked incredulous every time I expressed pain. I got angry and said she could no longer touch me. She then proceeded to turn off all my IVs and would let no one else help me. I was not allowed to eat so I had the saline to keep me hydrated which was extremely important in my case. She refused to turn it back on. I told her to take out the needle so I could leave and go to another hospital. I was in pain, hungry, thirsty, and nauseous. She left me like that for 6 hours. I finally demanded to speak to the American Embassy. She understood English real good then and tried to comfort me. Another nurse came in and re inserted the IV. I left the hospital AMA shortly thereafter with anti biotics. After that treatment there was no way on earth that I would let them operate on me. BEWARE! her name...
Read moreI was on vacation in Paris and was taken here with excruciating & sudden stomach pain. I had to have an emergency surgery to remove part of my large intestine due to a twist - or a “volvulous”. I was kept in the emergency waiting room overnight- part of the night in an empty hallway- with pain so severe that I almost fainted several times. I was certain I was going to die because I didn’t know if anyone would notice if I lost consciousness. The nurses and doctors I spoke with told me “we will come back with pain medication” but hours went by without seeing anyone again. Almost no one spoke English. I was terrified and traumatized.
I would give this hospital 0 stars, HOWEVER. Once I got into surgery, the doctors were kind to me. I was crying quite a bit and they calmed me down and played music for me. The surgery went well, and I obviously survived without complications. I feel so grateful they caught the twist and operated on me within 16 hours of me being there. They did save my life.
I don’t know who is reading this and if you are considering going here, but try to go to the American hospital if at all possible. I hope you get the care you need and deserve. Do not expect nurses there to care for you like nurses...
Read moreI had an abscess wound drained here in August 2022, from the emergency room. The waiting room was so dirty, I didn’t want to touch anything. There were people screaming in the hallway: “Madame, Madame. Madame.” It was a really uncomfortable place to wait. They put me through to surgery quickly after inspecting me, but didn’t have me sign anything, did not explain the risk, and took no time to properly translate as my French is limited. They then sent me off without discharge papers or explanation of after-care, and simply said I needed a nurse, but I was too sick from the spinal anaesthesia to find one and needed a lot of assistance. Better communication would have helped. They also said I didn’t need a check up - well, 2 months later, I’m back in another hospital because I have a fistula, which I had all along. When I demanded I have a checkup with the surgeon, she didn’t properly inspect me. And they look at you like: how dare you ask questions or advocate for yourself? It was honestly like they didn’t have the time of day for me. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not French, but I felt very uncared for.
I will not go back to...
