Camping du Letty — Local services in Quimper

Camping Le Letty is a charming campsite located in the southern part of Britain, offering direct access to the water. What makes this campsite particularly stand out in my opinion is its family-friendly atmosphere. It's designed with families in mind, especially those with young children. No matter the weather, you will always find something to do. The large outdoor pool area with its slides is perfect for sunny days, while the indoor swimming pool provides a great alternative when the weather isn't ideal.

Additionally, there is a massive playground where children of all ages can enjoy themselves for hours. One of the highlights is the campsite’s own climbing hall, which includes a large indoor play area where the little ones can climb and engage in various activities. This is especially useful during bad weather, providing a great alternative to staying inside your tent, caravan, or motorhome.

As for the lagoon itself, it has a strong dependence on the tides. During low tide, the lagoon is relatively empty, but during high tide, it’s perfect for stand-up paddleboarding. However, you should always keep an eye on the strong currents in the lagoon, especially if you are in the water with young children.

The reason I am giving this campsite four stars instead of five is due to the pitches. There are different categories of pitches available, but I was not pleased with the fact that all the pitches are uneven and not well-levelled. This can make setting up a caravan or motorhome quite challenging in some spots. I would like to see better-marked and level pitches, or for those areas that cannot be levelled, they should be designated as tent-only areas.

Contrary to the information on Google Maps, the Wi-Fi network across the entire campsite is not free. After logging into the Wi-Fi, you need to create an account, where you can then purchase a plan with a credit card or PayPal. The available options include a daily, weekly, or even three-month plan, all of which require payment. I did not use this service as we had our own independent internet with Starlink, so it was not necessary to subscribe to any of the plans. Therefore, I cannot comment on the bandwidth or the speed of the Wi-Fi network.

Lovely family site on the beach with great size pitches We have returned following a fantastic trip at Du Letty in 2019. Du Letty is a lovely site and the pool is great. My 7 & 9 year old boys loved the pool and cycling around the site which felt very safe. They also enjoyed Panda Adventure though we only visited once. When we went in 2019 the entertainment programme was different, so we experienced pyrotechnics and a foam party outside of the main bar which was fantastic fun. This year they didn't have the same programme so we missed these too parts of entertainment. It seems they've brought in their own entertainments team this year and they were lovely and very enthusiastic. They did awesome pool parties and I thought their 7pm aperitif games were really good fun, the guys ensured that all felt able to participate even if you were predominantly English speaking. The 9.30 entertainment this time was less to my taste though the spectators all seemed to be having good fun. The beach is really lovely and picturesque but wear beach shoes as the sand isn't the most comfortable to walk on. The shop was really well stocked with food, bakery, alcohol, camping equipment and beach wear / toys and reasonably priced. The bar suited me but some friends were less keen on the beer / alcohol selection - this might have been due to nearing end of season but the only options were Kronenburg 1664 or Leffe - both strong and distinctive in taste. Standard Kronenburg would be a good addition and I also missed the options of Grimbergen which was available on my previous visit. This is a lovely laid back site and its great that its only for tents, tourers and motor homes/camper vans as it gives it a different feel to one with many lodges / statics. Another benefit is there are many pitches that have water and waste so really convenient and they accept twin axle caravans. A motor mover is very helpful though for getting onto pitch if you have a larger caravan and don't want...

We stayed in a tent as a family of four, with two teenagers. The standard pitch was easily big enough for us. It is more expensive than most other campsites, but the facilities justify this in our view. The outdoor pool is special, indoor pool is also pleasant. There is a useful shop on site, sells most things that you would need. Also the onsite pizza/burger take away facility is an option. The bar is pleasant and there are often activities put on here in the evening (aimed at children mostly). The toilet facilities seemed perfectly fine to us, probably a bit cleaner than most campsites. ||It is a busy spot and there are lots of motor homes etc around the site. Lots of French and German families when we were there, also some from the Netherlands and UK and Ireland. However after 11pm it is quiet, and is generally geared towards families. They rent out kayaks and SUP, but we did not use these because the beach area is not that appealing and the tide currents make water sports less fun. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful in our experience, we had one or two minor difficulties with the bar staff but that was all. Nearby Benodet is a lovely village with lots of hotels, bars and cafes etc. ||We only gave this campsite four stars out of five because of some minor niggles. The takeaway really only offers fast food, and little else. The drinks at the bar are more expensive than you would expect. The shop/bar/takeaway will not accept cash at all, which will be inconvenient for some - you end up having to make lots of small payments electronically, which would not be my preference.
