I have never experienced such poor service in my entire life. Extremely rude staff. It feels like you are a burden there as if you needed to know exactly what your are looking for before going it into the store. Questions are ignored even if you are trying your very best to ask them in French. There seems to be an urgency to have you choose and leave and certainly an attempt to minimize what you try on.
Most importantly, never go into this store with a child. Maybe they could put a sign on the door saying children are not welcome in the store - honest suggestion. The faces and grimaces of disapproval they make are out of this world. Kids are not allowed to eat a no mess biscuit in a bag neatly or touch anything. My child had no interest in trying the hats and did not touch any of them, but they appeared extremely uncomfortable with his presence. He did touch a couple of the glass boxes with hair items in them, but I corrected him even before they did. Staff doesn’t hesitate to harshly correct them over and over even after the child has already left. I am used to shopping etiquette in France but the judgement is a bit much here and made my visit an impossible venture. I left empty handed even though I had planned to get several hats. No words of empathy, no friendly gestures or words. I wish the owners the very best and hope they find some kindness to welcome clients in such a...
Read moreMy husband and I were strolling the Place du Grand Marché when we discovered this delightful shop with its display of beautiful hats and scarves in the window. When we went inside, we were warmly greeted by two lovely ladies. In my very slow French, I said that I was looking for a scarf as a gift for our son's girlfriend. The sales assistant asked me a few more questions before presenting a stunningly beautiful scarf that perfectly matched what I was seeking. They also have a beautiful selection of scarves for men, and the owner, Julie, helped my husband select the perfect color and fabric he wanted. She even taught him how to tie it in ultimate chic style! Both ladies speak perfect English, but they were kind and patient with my efforts to use French - in fact, complimenting me, which truly made my day! We had such a wonderful experience in this store that we went back two more times for another scarf and a hat for my husband. With regard to the few negative comments I've read here, customers should remember that when you enter a shop such as Chapellerie Brun, it is like stepping into someone's home. Be respectful, and allow these very professional women to assist you. Our visit to Chapellerie Brun and our interactions with its owner, Julie, was an experience we will always remember very fondly. We hope to...
Read moreThe hat shop owner who would not sell me a hat!
I came in wanting to buy a hat- and indeed they are very pretty snd high quality felt. Except the shop owner’s reaction was “Don’t touch” in a very strict manner— how rude! Not surprisingly I left. I wonder how they expect to sell hats of you cant try them on.
Addition/Edit in response to the shop owner— I was not offered service when I replaced the hat back on the hat stand. I would have been happy to work with someone had they said something as simple as “please give me a moment and I will help you to find/choose a hat”— but they did not. They did not say anything else. Simply made me feel uncomfortable. Hence why I stand by my review.
I am not ignorant and own custom hats. Communication would have been appreciated and was lacking here. For a business claiming to rely on customer service - you provided none. Only rudeness. No hello, no goodbye, only your bark for the entire time I explored both sides...
