Athens Metro Mall is a small mall, and not especially "quaint." Its small size is reflected in its limited shopping options: women's fashion dominates with very few options for men, and this neglect is evident in an H&M that does not even have a men's section. The lower floor has stores from three different phone companies and a large store for technology and books, Public.
The layout of the mall is decent and allows you to get around its small size, but the elevators are terrible. There is an entirety of four elevators for the entire mall, and only two of those service all floors. The situation is made more dire when you consider that the elevators themselves are tiny, fitting about 6 people max, and usually far fewer as there will always be a person or two with strollers in there, as well as a lot of people who have no special need that would necessitate the use of an elevator. On a regular weekday one can make do, but on busy days when the mall is full, then the elevator situation approaches that of nightmare, with elevators taking forever to go between floors and rarely accommodating those who are waiting for them. My advice to those that need to use the elevator is to use the ones on the southern end of the mall (the left side as one enters it from the main entrance) as they usually are less crowded, but these elevators do not even reach the highest floor with the restaurants and cafeterias.
The personnel at the mall appear professional, and they always make sure that the mall remains clean and functional. The same can be said for the employees at any of the shops that I have been to.
The food court is decent, usually has enough seating and the options are varied enough for a Greek mall. On the uppermost level the cafeterias and restaurants are also quite good, and the view is definitely one of the better views you can get in the area.
Small annoyance: the main entrance to the mall is somewhat odd in what doors it makes one go through. There is a revolving door that revolves at varying speeds and often stops on its own, and this door is sometimes left open as a regular entrance. There is a non-revolving, regular door on the side which at times is open and other times closed, and even more odd is the fact that there is another pair of large sliding door on the other side of the entrance which never open, though their opening would certainly facilitate the flow of people in and out of the mall.
The parking is usually ample enough for the size of the mall, though the positions are quite crammed.
Overall impressions: a nice small mall with a decent variety of stores for the size and a definite improvement for the neighborhood, though navigating the mall itself especially during peak hours can be very...
Read moreAs the years go by I see the place declining.. some time ago there were seats around the mall. Now they are all gone, which makes me wonder: do they have people? Do they want to make them uncomfortable so they rush and leave the place? The music always so loud, which does not assist in creating a nice atmosphere to walk, browse, chat etc. it’s a mall where all kinds of people come, not a club for the teenagers and them only. When you to the upper floors to sit outside and have coffee you realize how sad the view is. Athens is one ugly city, and regardless of the shops and the music once you go outside it re-hits you in its full glory. Not the mall’s fault but still. And during the summer it is so hot, you can not sit there for more than a few minutes. Lots of places for food and coffee but the quality is not worth the prices you will encounter. Some shops remain interesting and I still visit from time to time but stir away during holidays or sales, unless you like waiting in long lines and encountering tons of people in every single place. It can be overwhelming. In there you can find many kinds of stores, which is convenient. If it had a pharmacy as well, that would be splendid and even more convenient. The PPC store though is a joke. It’s merely promotion, they can not help with anything, from paying a power bill to changing some of your details or arrange something regarding your contract. Big plus: it’s right outside the metro station, so it’s increasingly easy to access with said public transport mode, unlike other...
Read moreThis shopping "mall" or "center" is a mid-sized shopping center. While it may not have the glitz and glamour of some of the larger malls in Athens, it offers a convenient and pleasant shopping experience. The mall houses a decent mix of stores, ranging from fashion and accessories to electronics and home goods that can be found in different stores.
There’s also a good selection of fast food stores and two or three cafes for when you need a break from shopping, and there's even a supermarket (specifically AB Shop & Go if I'm not wrong)
One of the mall's strengths is its accessibility. It's well-connected to public transportation (metro, red line, and some bus stations) , making it easy to reach for those without a car.
Now, of course, parking can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours, but there's a decent-sized underground parking garage.
Great choice for everyday...
