We came based on the good reviews and ordered: spicy cheese cream, tomato salad, melitzanosalata, pita, briam and moussaka.
The cheese cream was acceptable, but the melitzanosalata was awful. The eggplant hadnât been roasted in the oven and the dip tasted overwhelmingly of mayonnaise. Its texture was far pastier and more homogeneous than a proper melitzanosalata. no eggplant fibers in sight. Either mayonnaise or full-fat yogurt was added, or worse, it was a ready-made product. A total disaster.
The briam was flavorless and greasy. The tomato salad was just coarsely chopped tomatoes with oil. no onions or olives as youâd expect elsewhere.
As for the moussaka: it cost a hefty âŹ14.50. For that price, I expected a fresh dish baked in a clay pot. Instead I received reheated moussaka with the bĂ©chamel layer burnt black. When I complained, the waiter first blamed the eggplant, then offered a brief âsorryâ before walking away. I still paid nearly âŹ15.
Overall, the service was very indifferent: plates were cleared away too quickly, and after this experience we just wanted to leave as fast as possible.
Edit/answer:
Thank you for your reply.
It is quite telling that instead of addressing my detailed and justified criticism, you chose to respond with sarcasm and a personal insult. I did not enter your restaurant grumpy - perhaps you should reflect on why your service and food made me leave feeling that way. Your dismissive answer only confirms the lack of professionalism and service quality that I experienced during my visit. BTW I found your served...
Read moreItâs always awkward when you leave a place feeling sorry for the people but furious about the food. Thatâs exactly what happened here. The staff were friendly â no complaints there â but friendliness canât season meat or mask the taste of decline.
I ordered a gyro (first pork, then chicken, because I naively thought the first disaster mightâve been a fluke). Just tired slabs of what I can only assume was once pork and chicken, now stripped of any dignity or flavor.
The restaurant itself fits right into the surroundings: the village is in clear ruin, the kind of place that feels abandoned even while youâre standing there. A few tourists still stumble through, probably wondering if they've made a mistake, and these small eateries seem to exist only to catch whatever coins they can before the whole place collapses.
I truly wish I could say that the welcoming attitude of the staff saved the experience â but it didn't. Kindness doesnât make up for terrible food. If anything, it makes it worse, because you want to support them, but you just canât justify it.
If youâre passing through, do yourself a favor:...
Read moreFantastic authentic Greek restaurant, a hidden gem with a friendly and gentle Spiros and cook Maria. Whatever we chose during our stay in Liapades where there is almost no infrastructure, was fresh, tasty and served with love. You would not expect a restaurant of this outstanding quality to be situated far away from nowhere. The calf meat dish could not have been better cooked by a Michelin rated cook. I don't exaggerate! Spiros speaks several languages and is polite and funny. We love the food there so much that we did not reach out for another restaurant. Thanks for a wonderful experience, Maria and Spiros! Barbara and Andreas from Berlin Some advice: leave your car in the village downtown and walk uphill for 10 minutes, it is worth the little walk and you have no struggle with parking the car in the...
