I would strongly suggest if you are on a Royal Caribbean cruise, do not go to this excursion.
The loading process at the port is a logistical nightmare, they do not have a good system down at all. We didn’t leave the port for almost half an hour after the time we were supposed to leave. They didn’t check tickets until everyone had already loaded up the bus, which meant we had to pass the tickets up to the front of the bus instead of just checking them while loading.
The bus ride was almost 40 minutes, something that was never made clear through Royal Caribbean or the booking itself. The bus was very hot and the roads were windy, meaning multiple people in the bus were having issues with motion sickness.
Once we arrived, we realized that the swimming area isn’t really a beach, it’s more like a lagoon cut off from the ocean that’s essentially like a swimming pool. The actual ocean is too rocky here to swim in, so if you were hoping to swim out and see fish, think again. They won’t allow you to do so.
The kayaks that they have to use for people are also in TERRIBLE condition. Most of them had multiple big holes in the bottoms of them, so after kayaking for more than 5 minutes, they start to sink.
Drinks cost as much here as they do on the cruise ship.
The only good part of this experience was the lunch, the chicken, fish, and rice were all really good.
I would strongly not recommend this as an excursion, and if I came back to Roatan, I would definitely choose somewhere else. Little French Cay across the lagoon looks nicer, this place is no...
Read moreThis place is TERRIBLE! Do not spend any money here! I made the mistake of going there only to find exotic animals such as Lions, and Jaguars kept in extremely small enclosures filled with rocks. The animals were clearly in distress, they looked malnourished and deformed. I spoke with the locals and the owner is rich and pays off anyone who comes at him with abusive claims. This place needs to be shut down and the animals need to be relocated. Something absolutely needs to be done about their living conditions. Just because they are beautiful doesn't give us the right to keep them in tiny cages so we can look at them....
Read moreIt was a very nice get away. Book the excursion through Carnival Cruise Lines. We were taken to a dock via bus, then a tender boat took us over. It was very relaxing. There was snorkeling, a boat ride, beaches. Waitresses would come around taking orders from the people.
We were also served lunch here on the island. It was family friendly. I would recommend some sand shoes. The sand in the water at the beach is nice, but when you get out a bit between Big and Little French Kay, there are some rocks, but it isn't too bad. I had left mine on the ship.
It was a good time. I would...
