Roatan Salty Life by Moody Jones — Local services in Roatán

It took us three tries, but we finally made our trip to Roatan. The entire time, Moody was excellent at responding to my inquiries through email. He seemed disappointed for us the first two times that our trip was cancelled due to COVID. The third time was a charm, and we finally made the trip happen in October 2021.

Moody and his first mate, Yancy (sp?), from Roatan Salty Life were absolutely amazing. They arrived on time, fully stocked, and ready to go. We encountered a rain shower on the first part of the trip, but Yancy kept making us laugh during it and it was nothing more than a great memory after the fact. It didn't take long once we started trolling to get a couple of bonito and blackfin tunas to hit. After the rain shower, we encountered dolphins that were playing in front of the boat....it was amazing to watch those majestic creatures! Next up, we hooked into 5 mahi, 1 barracuda, and 1 yellowtail tuna. It was a great day of fishing! We finished up the day snorkeling around Pigeon Cay. Yancy did a great job of pointing things out to us and diving down and showing us the (huge) sand dollars. It was a great ending to a great day. OH…..and the sandwiches made by Moody’s wife for lunch were amazing as well. He had a variety of snacks for us and water and sodas as well.

I want to emphasize that even if we had caught zero fish during this trip, it still would have been a great trip. Moody and Yancy complement each other nicely and Yancy is great at reading the crowd and keeping people entertained. They're very knowledgeable of the area including land and water. Next time we’re back in Roatan, a trip with Roatan Salty Life and Moody is definitely...

We're from the Midwestern USA and our beach/ocean vacations are few and far between. When we booked our trip to Roatan I didn't think there was any way it could be as amazing as the literature made it seem. Moody and his 1st mate went above and beyond to make it all come to life. The fishing, snorkeling, and island tour could not have been better. Two great guys who love what they do made...

Unfortunately we were not able to book a fishing excursion with this company but their customer service was top notch. Quick to respond to our back and forth emails and offered other suggestions for our trip. If we ever plan another trip to Rotan I will definitely be looking this company up again because great customer service is hard to come by in...
