This trip was phenomenal. I really couldn't have picked a better guide and we were incredibly fortunate to get clear skies and strong solar activity on the night of our tour which resulted in some incredible sights.

Our host, Heimir, was friendly and accommodating throughout. He contacted us to help resolve an issue with my email and to ensure that we were away of the later pickup time. You can tell he is passionate about the northern lights and what he does as his enthusiasm and knowledge is apparent from the outset.

He was so eager to show us the northern lights that upon picking us up he pulled over to explain that they were already out and took us hastily to a hilltop spot to see them over the city where we took some photos before heading to his own spot further out. Despite the huge number of people going out to see the lights that night, he managed to take us to a spot where we had total, uninterrupted privacy and an amazing clear view of the night sky and the lights. He provided seats and bodysuits and took photos of us, the group and the sky throughout. We saw shooting stars, the most fantastic full sky display of the lights, and throughout he talked us through what we were seeing and why it was showing up the way it was that night.

Snacks, hot chocolate and other refreshments were provided at the end of the night before returning only because the lights were so intense that we didn’t want to leave our spot and were fixed on watching them the entire night.

A day after the trip Heimir sent us the pictures that he took (those of us and those he took of the sky through the night) and they are fantastic. Our own phones (mid-range Android) struggled to capture the lights even though they were very clearly visible to the naked eye, so it was a relief to have a pro taking shots that we could keep.

From the moment he picked us up, Heimir was warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. It really felt like we were going exploring with a friend who genuinely wanted us to have the best night possible.

What really stood out was the attention to detail and comfort. Heimir provided warm snow suits, camp chairs to sit and enjoy the lights in comfort, and even brought along traditional Icelandic snacks and hot chocolate.

Unlike many larger tour companies, Heimir went above and beyond to take us to remote, hidden locations away from the large crowds, ensuring we had the clearest and most beautiful views of the aurora. He kept the van running and heated throughout the night so we could warm up whenever we needed, and he was happy to stay out as long as it took for us to be completely satisfied with what we saw. His dedication to making the experience perfect was unmatched.

Another amazing aspect of the tour was Heimir’s photography skills. He took stunning professional photos of us under the northern lights which was all included in the tour price, and even helped my partner set up his own camera, sharing tips and tricks for capturing the best shots.

Every part of the evening felt thoughtfully planned and deeply personal. Heimir’s kindness, enthusiasm, and expertise made the experience unforgettable.

Highly recommend this tour! Heimir communicated clearly and was extremely accommodating when we had to cancel and reschedule due to low visibility two nights in a row. But what a show on the third night! He is knowledgeable about the northern lights phenomenon and took us to an open location where we saw the lights constantly dance for almost four hours. We were the only group around and were able to watch the lights with no interruptions or distractions. The snowsuits were a definite plus as we were out in the open the whole night and it was chilly. He helped us change the settings on our phones so we could take our own pictures, but he was also taking amazing professional pictures of everyone in the group the whole night. Everyone was able to have multiple pictures taken and he even had a few props. The snacks and drinks he set out were a great touch. The tour price is higher than the average northern lights tour, but every detail and his effort in giving his guests a great night is worth it!...
