Iceland Highlights Travel Agency — Local services in Reykjavik

For our recent trip to Iceland (July 12th – 18th, 2023) my mother and father and I booked for the week, through Iceland Highlights’ Travel Agency, private car and guide services , which were excellent. ). Agnes was our driver and guide. This letter is to commend Iceland Highlights and Agnes for the very fine job that she did and to help ensure that her exceptional skills are recognized and valued. We have used private car and guide services for many years for vacations in many parts of the world, and we all agree that Agnes stands out as one of the very best guides we have ever had; she made what could easily have been an average vacation into one that was truly outstanding.

Perhaps it should be a given, but we wish to emphasize that Agnes is a very good driver, because we can attest that has not always been the case with the drivers with other services. With Agnes, we were never uncomfortable; without exception, she drove very safely and professionally.

Agnes has a remarkably pleasant and engaging personality, and she communicates very effectively. Her knowledge of Iceland and the various places on our itinerary was exceptionally good, and she provided information with an enthusiasm that communicated her personal love for Iceland and its wonders Also her descriptions were often accompanied by interesting anecdotes that helped bring those places to life for us.

Perhaps most importantly, Agnes quickly assessed who we were as people and skillfully adapted our tour to our particular interests and preferences so that the tour was enjoyable to everyone, even though my mother and father, being older with limited mobility, have a very different approach from mine. In doing so, Agnes effectively became “part of the family,” interacting with each of us according to our interests and abilities.

Fantastic Experience! My spouse and I just got back from a Norwegian Star Iceland Cruise. In preparation, I wanted to find excursions beyond the typical NCL sponsored offerings. I found Iceland Highlights and booked two excursions, an ATV adventure in Isafjordur and a Kayak adventure in Grundarfjordur. Iceland Highlights was extremely professional and responsive from the very beginning. Tung was the Travel Concierge that helped me and answered all my questions and concerns. Such as, “How far is the adventure operator from the port?”, “Will I make it back to the ship on time?”, things like that. Again, very responsive and professional. The ATV adventure was amazing!! My spouse and I each had our own ATV. The tour guide took us places we never would have seen on any NCL excursion. We had plenty of time for the adventure, and just like Tung said, we were back in plenty of time. Our GrundarFjordur port was cancelled by our captain due to dangerous seas not permitting the ship to dock. I emailed Tung just to let him know that the Kayak operator should not be waiting on us because our port was cancelled. Tung reached out the Kayak operator to let him know and tried to get us a refund since we couldn’t make the adventure. The operator was kind enough to give us the refund (even though we were technically still responsible for the charges- it wasn’t the operator’s fault the port was cancelled). My advice to anyone is don’t just settle for your ship’s excursions. If you’re going on an Iceland cruise, take a look at Iceland Highlights for other options. They...

I used Iceland Highlights while in Iceland recently and they were great. Prior to heading to Iceland (from the US) we had already set-up all of our excursions, but didn't set up transportation. Prior to leaving for the trip we reached out to several places and never received a return call/e-mail. I finally found this company and reached out and received a reply in a reasonable amount of time. They were able to arrange transportation and drivers to/from excursions and the airport. All drivers were great and very informative about the island; since this was our first time here it was a nice addition to the trip. I would recommend.
