Once touted as the longest mall of Delhi-NCR—and perhaps even India—Cross River Mall in Karkardooma now feels more like a relic of a forgotten era than a thriving retail hub. What could have been a premier shopping and leisure destination given its prime location opposite The Leela Hotel, and proximity to Surajmal Vihar, Vivek Vihar, and Anand Vihar, has sadly deteriorated into a shadow of its former self.
Pros: The only real anchors keeping the place alive are McDonald’s, Haldiram’s, and the ageing but functional Cinepolis. There are also a few other eateries like Burger Singh, which offer some reason for locals to step in. For those who knew it in its better days, these remnants are small comfort, but they do keep the mall from complete abandonment.
Cons: The list here is long—much like the mall itself. The infrastructure is outdated to the point of being inconvenient. The basement parking is a nightmare, with narrow lanes that make maneuvering cars unnecessarily stressful. Many shop spaces lie abandoned, including the 13 liquor stores that once operated here but are now just empty, dusty lots.
The mall’s decline is not just physical but reputational. Reports and murmurs about questionable operations—such as scams involving massage parlors and certain cafés—have further tainted its image. The once-bustling corridors are now eerily quiet, with only a trickle of footfall that reflects how far the place has fallen from its heyday.
Conclusion: Cross River Mall had every advantage—size, location, accessibility—but squandered it all with poor upkeep, lack of reinvention, and management complacency. Today, it stands as a cautionary tale of how even the grandest retail spaces can fade into irrelevance without vision and care. Unless drastic steps are taken to revive it, Cross River Mall risks becoming nothing more than a massive, empty monument to missed...
Read moreTo, The Concerned Authority SunCity Group / Cross River Mall Management Subject: Complaint regarding overcharging, illegal billing, and misconduct at Mexico Restaurant, Cross River Mall (Shahdara, Delhi) Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to register a formal complaint against Mexico Restaurant, located on the 1st Floor of Cross River Mall, CBD Ground, Shahdara, Delhi. On 13 October 2025, I visited this restaurant and ordered: 1 Water Bottle 1 Cold Coffee / Red Bull 1 Hookah 1 Rose Soda 1 French Fries The staff charged me an excessive amount of ₹12,307, as per the attached bill. The prices of basic items like water (₹99) and Red Bull (₹499) were highly inflated. Additionally, the bill shows both GST and VAT, which is illegal under Indian tax law (GST has replaced VAT since 2017). When I questioned the billing, the staff behaved very rudely and refused to explain the charges. I believe this is a clear case of consumer exploitation, overcharging, and possible tax fraud. Also, the restaurant was serving hookah, which is banned in Delhi restaurants. I request immediate investigation and strict action against the restaurant for: Charging above MRP and misusing tax components. Misbehaving with customers. Violating Delhi’s hookah ban. Attached: Copy of the bill (₹12,307) for reference. Please take the action so that justice can be served. (hiring girls to trap male visitors)Thank you for...
Read moreDear Mr Estate Manager, Good evening, Today afternoon, I alongwith my family, visited the Cross River Mall for shopping. At the main entry point, I got upset where I did not find any Ramp Or any SUPPORTIVE HAND RAIL. Being a patient-suffering from L4, L5, S1, I found it very difficult to make my entry into the Mall Premises. I stopped there and decided to stay outside but, one of the S/Guards came forward and helped me to make my entry possible with his supportive efforts. When I enquired the Guards about the Ramp and the Hand Rail facilitues, which have now been made mandatory for the people who physically challenged and others, but, they had NO ANSWER to this very problem. I would also like to add here that some other aged people were alao facing the same problem.
After shopping on coming back again to the Entry point, I was helped by one boy who extended his support to me.
In view of the above grievance of mine, I humbly request you with all other concerned people, to pay immediate attention for making all the aforementioned necessary provisions, to facilitate the DIVYANGs and AGED persons who accompany their family for shopping. Hope, some action, will definitely be taken in this regard at all the Entry points, to enable the aged and DIVYANGs to visit the Mall premises with any difficulties. Thanks with regards, R. K.
