Disappointing Experience at Ginger Hotel – Falls Short on Many Fronts
Our recent stay at Ginger Hotel left much to be desired. We booked it due to its proximity to Goldmines Banquet for a late-night function and thought it would be convenient with our 1-year-old baby. While the booking on MMT was smooth, our actual experience was quite different.
Issues Right from Check-In: We booked a Standard Double Room based on listing photos showing it as one of the largest rooms, even bigger than the Luxe Queen Room. Our confirmation specified a double bed, which we had also confirmed by phone a day before. However, at check-in, the front desk insisted Standard Rooms only come with twin beds. When I mentioned our confirmation, they bluntly suggested canceling if unhappy. Eventually, the manager allowed the twin beds to be joined, but only after I pressed for it. This simple solution should have been offered by the staff, who even falsely claimed he had suggested it.
Room Quality Disappoints: Room 303 had a musty odor, and the interior was far from what was advertised. The room was cramped and lacked basic furnishings like a chair. The wardrobe was visibly rotting, and the sloppy paint job left stains on the fixtures. The roller curtain was yellowed, and our supposed “city view” was obscured by a nearby building, seen through a dirty window.
Poor Maintenance and Missing Basics: Cockroaches were in the bathroom, and the washbasin tap lacked a sprinkler, causing water to splash onto us. The kettle lid was broken, and the bedsheets weren’t entirely clean. Basic amenities like a hairdryer, safe, and hangers were missing, despite being listed. The intercom volume was very low, making communication with staff difficult.
Inconvenient and Delayed Breakfast Service: Ordering breakfast was another hassle. When we tried ordering a la carte, the staff initially directed us to the buffet and only after follow-up did they agree to serve in-room. Even then, we had to wait after a second follow-up to actually receive it.
Lack of Accessibility and Limited Support: There is no elevator from basement parking to the ground floor, forcing guests to use emergency stairs, which was inconvenient with luggage. There was also no valet service or bellboy. The security staff did assist with bags but rushed us due to the narrow parking area. Hotel staff generally lacked customer service skills, rarely making eye contact or greeting us as we passed.
Overall, our stay at Ginger Hotel was disappointing. The quality and service were far below expectations, and the staff’s unwelcoming attitude added to the negative experience. We hope MMT verifies this listing to ensure it reflects reality, as it currently...
Read moreOnly good thing about the hotels is the cleaning staff, especially Nanhupal and he had done a great job.
This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The issues were endless and completely unacceptable for the price I paid.
Misleading and False Information: The information about the rooms and beds on Booking.com was completely wrong. The actual rooms were nothing like what was advertised, which felt incredibly dishonest.
Unwelcoming Staff: The reception staff had serious, cold faces and unwelcoming behavior throughout my stay. There was no warmth or effort to make guests feel comfortable.
Horrible Room Conditions: The mattresses were noisy, uncomfortable, and even infested with bed bugs. Despite informing the staff, nothing was done about it. Worst of all, when I requested a room change, I was told the hotel was fully booked. However, another staff member later contradicted this, saying rooms were available. Even their own website showed availability, but they dismissed it as "placeholder info."
Terrible Amenities: For the money I paid, the experience was shocking. No washroom slippers were provided, the soaps and handwashes smelled strongly of chemicals, the window blinds were broken, and the water was barely lukewarm—even during the coldest days in Delhi. The room was freezing cold, with no room heater provided, and I ended up catching a cold because of the icy temperature.
Uncomfortable Washroom: The washroom was extremely narrow and uncomfortable to use. It was poorly designed and added to the overall discomfort of the stay.
Awful Food and Service: The food was worse than street-side food. Every dish I ordered was overloaded with cream and tasted horrible. To make it worse, the menu items didn’t match availability. Whatever you ordered, they’d deliver something else without any explanation.
This hotel is a complete disaster. The management clearly doesn’t care about its guests or providing even basic comfort. For the price I paid, this was an absolute rip-off. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone—avoid it...

Multiple issues came up with this hotel during our stay: We checked in at this hotel in the afternoon around 2 PM on 16th November. The moment we entered our room which was allotted to us (507), we saw a cockroach on the wall and were disgusted by the same. We informed the hotel staff and they agreed to spray hit. A few moments later, we again saw 2-3 small cockroaches on the floor and requested the staff to change our room, which they did and gave us 505. Clearly you can’t walk barefoot on these floors since they’re always full of cockroaches. After we asked to change our rooms, again in the new room (505) we saw cockroaches at different time intervals and of different sizes. Which clearly implies breeding of cockroaches in the premises.
The furniture has mold on it. The soap cases are rusted. The towel hangers are almost screwed out and are on the verge of falling so clothes keep falling straight onto the wet floor in the bathroom as there is only a ‘curtain’ for bathing division. Staff provides only 1 towel per room, even if you are 2 people staying in one room. In Spite WhatsApp Video 2024-11-17 at 22.37.45.mp4 WhatsApp Image 2024-11-18 at 10.41.56.jpeg of repeated requests, no napkins were provided.
Most importantly, we ordered tea at our room on 17th November at around 6.30 PM and when they brought the tea to the room, the kettle had a big cockroach moving on it. After speaking to mister Saurav at the reception, he said that the cockroaches must be in the furniture and since the renovation is planned for next year, they aren’t doing anything about the furniture at this moment. He also agreed that there are cockroaches in the kitchen.
Considering all these factors, I expect and request the management of the hotel to refund my complete amount of stay and booking.
