My wife and I decided to take our 17 year old son and 16 year old daughter to see Deadpool and Wolverine. We decided to make an event out of it, Cinema some overpriced popcorn and snacks, some pick and mix and after get some dinner.
As Deadpool was showing in the MAXC screen in Limerick we booked 4 tickets for the 5:30 show. On arrival we bought the snacks and went to get out seats. The young person collecting tickets asked if we had any ID for our daughter which we hadn't so declined to allow us to enter, He offer to get us ticket sot another movie but the choices were slim, We could have waited an hour for "Harold and his purple crayon" which surprisingly neither the 16 or 17 year old were particularly interested in in seeing so we declined.
Now while being declined entry was equal parts disappointing, frustrating and annoying I can actually understand the reasons why and understand the decision.
What I don't understand is that we were refused a refund on the tickets, Tickets that we paid €48.40 for. Tickets that we drove 25km to use but were refused permission to do so by your staff. The reason used to explain why we could be refunded is that we paid in advance online.. Just as we are encouraged to do. Apparently it would have been even easier if we had used cash at the location to buy the tickets (which based on all the signage on display for pay in advance I didn't even know was possible).
I wasn't even looking for a refund on the €83:40 we spent on overpriced snacks to enjoy as part of the cinema experience, just the tickets themselves.. But no.. This wasn't possible because we paid... in advance.... online..... and a manager who is very aggrieved when I pointed out that it was tantamount to theft to decline a service but refuse to refund the money.
So I am out of pocket to the tune one of €131.80, I have a crying daughter who is convinced that she "ruined" our family night out and wants us to leave her in the car, a wife who is annoyed because I made a scene by asking to speak to the manager. a true cinema experience.. And no one is in the mood for dinner so I am also hungry...
Next time.. I will just watch Disney +
If you absolutely have to go, don't book in advance, and pay cash...
Read moreMy friends , my mam and I were on our way to go see the new final destination movie. On most trailer’s I’ve seen it says 15A and we thought it would be okay for us to go because my mam were with us and we were all 16 and over . We had already bought the tickets which my mam had spent 71 euros on , and our food and drinks . We had been asked our ages at the counter and we all said 16 and they sold us the tickets. We got our food and we’re ready to go see the movie but when we got there the man at the counter refused the scan our tickets and asked for our ids to prove we were all 16 and over . After a lot of struggle the man wouldn’t let us in so we did the reasonable thing and tried to get a refund . At first they wouldn’t give my mam the 71 euros for the tickets back because they thought we were lying . Eventually they gave it back and were left the cinema disappointed. I’m would give a 0 star rating if I could but I will give it a 1 necrotic the lack of maturity in the staff because they started laughing at us when we left and give dirty looks and because they threatened to not give my mam the money back for our seats even though it is they fault for selling us the tickets in the first place if they suspect we weren’t over 16 even though we all clearly looked it . It’s a shame because I’ve had such good experiences there in the past but I will not be going there...
Read moreCame here tonight to see a movie and as we finished at around half 9, we noticed a very angry staff member with dyed red hair and a piercing acting aggressive towards other staff members, and slamming a door. Genuinely seemed like she was either on something or about to hit somebody. It’s just not appropriate to act like that in my opinion, as a manager of a business myself. Myself and my partner were shocked, as the staff member seemed only about 20 and seemed to be rude to everybody it was quite startling. I think she thinks she’s the manager or something or seemed to be on a power trip of some sort, either way it put me and my partner off the place because there was just a vibe people could sense that was off, as if the staff were fighting? Anyway, this girl seemed not fit for work, she was shouting at other staff members and honestly it was quite scary. but there was another lovely girl with blonde hair and glasses serving at the cashier and I just want to say she is a credit to the place- this girl always has a smile on her face whenever we’re seeing a movie and is probably the most friendly staff member there . Omniplex, please sort this issue with that other staff out, there’s no need for anger and door slamming it’s actually quite scary...
