Went to see new Bond last night⦠all was well until the highly emotional ending which was quite brilliantly done⦠stunning⦠had lump in throat and tear in my eye, when to my dismay cinema scores a spectacular own goal by TURNING HOUSE LIGHTS ON FULLY RIGHT AT START OF END CREDIT MUSIC! The early part of the credit sequence is an inherent part of the movie, where the emotion of the final scene can often be heightened. This was certainly one of those moments. The lump and tear were immediately replaced by anger at how such a beautiful moment could be spoilt through such an avoidable lack of care on behalf of the cinema. I have loved cinema my whole life, but have seen this practice more and more over the past 20 years. Itās probably the reason why Iāll most likely opt to watch new movies at home on Sky premiere in the future.
I subsequently received a most unhelpful reply from management suggesting that I had an āamazing experienceā. I certainly did not⦠I left the cinema furious. I have been a cinema goer for 50 years⦠the practice of house lights going on is new and lazy and completely spoils the credit sequence and music which as I said previously can be crucial to the experience of fully enjoying the film. The early part of credit sequence the theatre should be in darkness while main credit music is played. After this, by all means put half lights on for the long credit roll, then finally full lights only after final credit. If there are post credit sequences eg Marvel films, house light should be fully off. Strip lighting which is adequate for people to leave their seats safely for the toilet and refreshments during the film are perfectly adequate for people leaving during the credit sequence. This is the industry norm I believe. You...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was very disappointed in the Omni this weekend. I was looking forward to seeing a musical that I love on the big screen. I have been waiting months to see this. We were put in screen 8 and there was something off with the sound during the adverts. I thought nothing of it but when the film started the opening song had no music. The actors were singing so powerfully and for a moment I thought it was acapella and was going to build up. However when the chorus started I heard a faint bit of music and I knew then that it was an issue with the speakers. I spoke to one of the workers who, to their credit, were very nice to deal with. They said they would look into it but sadly nothing changed. After 20 mins my friend went out to say that the sound was still busted. She was informed that there has been an issue with this screen all week and they couldn't figure out how to fix it. This is the part that annoys me. I don't understand how the Omniplex can knowingly sell tickets to their audience when the screen I'd broken. That screen should not have been in operation. When we asked to speak to a manager we were informed they would not be in until the morning and we were advised to email them with feedback of our experience. If you are going to this cinema in future my advice is to check whether your screen is working before you hand over your money. I'll be going to imc...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolute disaster. I went with my sons and a friend to see the new Star Wars Movie. We went to the reception and were asked what seats we would like to pick? We were the first ones there, so picked four seats that we were happy with. We were in great form waiting for the movie and someone came up to us saying we were sitting in his seats. My son had the tickets and proved we were in the right seats and told him to talk to the Cinema about it. A few minutes later a staff member came and asked us for our tickets and said āah you booked for tomorrow and thatās the problemā I told him we didnāt, we had paid for the tickets at the counter and bought popcorn/drinks etc at the same time on our way in, he said āwell I didnāt sell the ticketsā and told me ādonāt be rudeā I then complained to the Manager but got no real apology. Very unprofessional we were totally humiliated by the whole experience. We were made feel like the people at fault, when it was a mistake made by the cashier. The whole incident was handled exceptionally badly and very unprofessionally. When you turn up at a cinema, ask for tickets for the next showing and buy food and drink you expect your tickets to be for that day not another day. Completely...
