Roadside station Arakawa — Local services in Chichibu

I showed up here late in the evening to sleep in my car for an early hike the following day. My arrival was long after closing hours for the shop and when there was zero issue. One or two other vehicles were doing the same thing. The restrooms are open 24/7. Then later the next day I came back to go shopping. いつの頃からか、度々「道の駅」という言葉を目にするようになりました。見たり聞いたりしても、あまり関心がなかったからでしょう。なぜ、どこにでも、枕詞のように「道の駅」何々という名前の場所が増えたのでしょう。 高速道路にパーキングエリアがありますが、どうやら普通の道路にも同様の場所を作ることにしたのが、「国土交通省」の発案だったとか。申請は市町村が行い、国土交通省道路課によって登録されます。2019年6月時点で、全国に1160箇所が登録されています。よって、商標権は「国土交通省」にあると知りました。(周りの人たちは、多くがご存知でした)

こうあらねばならぬという内容の決まりは無く、休憩ができるか、地域活性化に役立つものならばよろしいらしい。お役所から、指示が出るとは聞いておりません。まあ、そこまで口出しして貰いたくはありませんが。

こちら「道の駅　あらかわ」では、朝採り野菜やソバ製品、行者にんにくなどが置かれていたように思われました。伺った時は、欲しいと思っていた新鮮な野菜類がほとんど売れてしまっていましたので、想像するのみでした。たまねぎ６個入りを230円で購入。欲しいものがないけれど、安くて新鮮だからと、買い溜めするわけにもいきませんでした。
