This was the PERFECT van to chase snow around Hokkaido for two weeks for a group of 6-9 people.

Most importantly, the snow tires and wipers were top notch. We spent our entire 12 days driving on snow-covered and, at times, very icy roads, and the van performed as well or better than my car at home, which has all wheel drive and snow tires. I am very comfortable driving in snow, but only in the right equipment, and this van performed exceptionally.

The space in the van (Hiace) was plenty to fit skis under the seat, large bags in the back, and get 9 people seated with seat belts. With 9 people, including the front bench seat, it was a bit snug, but doable. When we only had 6 people on part of our trip, the spacing was ideal. Again, the rear area can hold a LOT of gear.

Kim and Paul were quick in their communication. They answered all of my questions thoroughly and even were able to accommodate our request for different pick up and drop off locations and times.

Hokkaido is a world away from the rest of Japan and Peak Niseko's van was perfect for our week there. Having the van meant that we could explore the national parks without relying on local trains and buses and there are so many great places to camp. We were especially impressed with the V6 AWD capacity. It had plenty of power and the van was in excellent condition. It was very clean and the camping supplies met our needs for a week on the road. Paul seems to have thought of everything needed to camp out in Hokkaido's stunning countryside. There was plenty of room even with 2 large pieces of luggage. At night the van converted easily to a comfortable and snug sleeping capsule. The supplied Garmin for navigating was ok but it's a good idea to have a quick lesson with Paul before heading off. All in all this was a positive and economical option for travelling around Hokkaido and gave us the freedom to go wherever we planned.
