AEON MALL Kitaoji — Local services in Kyoto

It is a very nice mall just above the Kitaoji subway station (北大路駅). It has a good variety of restaurants and you can get daily necessities from shops like Muji (2nd floor) and they also have a 100 yen shop (Can Do) on the 4th floor, next to electrical appliances store, Edion. There's a Starbucks on the 1st floor next to a cafeteria, where you can try different varieties of cuisine. On the same floor, there is also an Aeon supermarket to shop for ingredients and delicacies at a reasonable price. This isn't the most amazing mall in the world, but it is all about location. From here you can catch a city bus or kyoto bus, subway, or a taxi. AND there is a Jupiter, so I can find a lot of the foreign foods that I need for recipes, or just miss! It is usually clean and it is also attached to a big concert hall/theater in the back where they have lots of events. I will say, there is a lack of English signage. However, they do have a nursing room for mothers, so that gives it 5 stars...

This is an older mall, but it is still a nice place to shop. There is a Muji, an Uniqlo, and a supermarket. The main highlight in my opinion would be the large Jupiter (import store) where you can buy foreign ingredients/products that are difficult to find even at Kaldi.
