You need to follow a steep trail to reach here. There are some slippery ground in the path but overall it is not in bad condition. However, during rain and after rain it could be dangeraus. It was quiet and relaxing place. Along the way, there are different shrines amd temples. At the end it was a good experience. You will see both forrest and temples.

醍醐寺開山堂は豊臣秀頼によって慶長13年(1608)に再建されたそうです。内部の厨子の中央に開山理源大師、右に第１世観賢僧正、左に弘法大師の御影をお祀りしているそうです。

開山堂は 911年初頭に 醍醐寺を開山した 聖宝(ｼｮｳﾎﾞｳ) 戒名は理源大師(ﾘｹﾞﾝﾀﾞｲｼ)を 奉った堂で 弟子の観賢僧正(ｶﾝｹﾞﾝｿｳｼﾞｮｳ)が 建立しました ソノ後1092年に改築された後 二度の火災で消失し 1606年に豊臣秀頼に より再興されたモノが 今あるコノ建物です また 堂内の内陣中央には 聖宝理源大師 ソノ右には観賢僧正 左には弘法大師の各像が 御安置されていると ありました なお当初は 開山堂ではなく 御影堂と呼ばれて いたトノ事です

重要文化財の開山堂は 上醍醐の堂宇において 最大で 威厳あり堂々としつつも 建物廻には 蔀戸が貼り廻り 実に美しい姿を誇っています また堂を振り向くと 遥か西方には 山並越しに京都市街の風景が望め...
