Sato-no-Eki Ohara — Local services in Kyoto

Open-air Sunday morning farmers’ market starts from 6:00 until 9:00am. Go early if you want to buy fresh vegetables directly from the farmers - usually nothing much left after 8am. Nice and friendly atmosphere.

However if you miss the morning market, you can still buy vegetables (with more variety) at the store which opens at 9:00, but with a different atmosphere (here you don’t see the farmers and you pay at the counter like at a supermarket). This is a very popular farmers market in Kyoto. Many of the locals including small restaurant and cafe owners also come here. Unfortunately, it is a little out of the way. 煙草、マスク無しで大声で話す方をを容認されています。

４月中旬、日曜お昼に訪問しました。 正面入口横の小さな休憩所でマスク無しで大声で話しながら煙草を吸う人がおりました。

後ろに禁煙マーク。ちょうど、つきたて餅の販売で多くの人が真横で列をなし待っておりました。

すぐにレジのスタッフに禁煙エリアで煙草を吸っている人がおり、小さな子供も多い場所で煙がすぐ横の列に並ぶ人達にかかっており、注意をしてもらえるようお願いしましたが、一向に誰もスタッフらしき人は来ませんでした。

結局２回同じ女性にお願いに行きましたが、事務所の責任者に伝えたので。と冷たくあしらわれました。

帰り際に野菜販売所横にある事務所にこの件を確認すると、 責任者という中年男性は、

「スタッフから聞いたが、見に行っていない、注意していない。」と…。

理由は事務所の中に座っている自分の席から見えないのでと。呆れました…。 まったく問題だと思っていない態度でした。

色々なイベントや宣伝され、私たちも良く訪問していましたが、 責任者やスタッフの方がこの様な対応で煙草を堂々と吸う人も容認されているので驚きました。

高齢者や子供も多いので、狭い駐車場でいつも危ない場面を目にしますし、 建物内の野菜売り場でもマスク無しで、電話している作業着スタッフの方…
