Hachiman Shrine — Local services in Obama

Houze Festival is the biggest festival of early Autumn held in Obama City at Hachiman Shrine. The festival has a history of more than 300 years. The origin of the festival is a traditional practice called Hojo which is an act of humanity to release fish and birds caught by folks back to the nature in the name of spiritual law. 放 Hou = release 生 Ze = life 祭 Matsuri = festival. This traditional custome was developed by a local comittee of Houze since 720 in Hachiman Shrine of Obama. The festival is designated as an intangeble cultural asset of Fukui Prefecture. In the festival each of 24 wards of the city demonstrate a parade through the paths around the shrine with a splendid festival fleet with elaborate ornaments. The style of this festival parade was patterned after Gion Festival of Kyoto City started in medieval times and Houze Festival started in Edo Period ( 18th century ). Each ward comes up with their own traditional performing arts ( mainly consists of parade of fleet and portable shrine, performance with Taiko drums, lion dance performed by three persons ) to be dedicated to the deity of Hachiman Shrine. 奈良人なんですが 神社の前のパン屋さんで 美味しいパンを土産に買い ソノ前は直ぐ近くの 米太さんで超旨かった『からみそば』を 頂き あとは奈良に帰るだけとなったのですが 山の麓の新緑に映える社殿が あまりにも美しく 思わずお参りすることに

境内入り口にある木造の鳥居から 正面には 山を借景の拝殿が佇み 見るからに神宿る雰囲気に包まれています 拝礼を済ませ右奥に進むと 本殿が現れ ソノ 外周が廻れるように成っており 厳かで美しいお姿の全容を 拝する事が出来ました

たまたま立ち寄った お参りでしたが 山を背景の素晴らしい景色と 多分 雪ヨケとは思うのですが ガラス張りの拝殿が とても珍しく また 綺麗で 印象に残る神社の一社に成りました
