This was exactly the kind of place I was hoping for in terms of the (truly) indie Japanese music scene. It's a small (small as in cozy, not cramped) venue with ample seating, which was more than welcome after a long day walking around.
The location is impossible to miss, as it's right outside of Ekoda Station. You see the venue when you exit.
I was blown away by the food and drinks here. They say they have cocktails, and when you order a cocktail you actually get a lovingly made, interesting flavor profile cocktail. And I remember the prices being pretty good too!
And the food was better than expected! The pizza I got was hot when it came out, making the copious amounts of cheese delightfully melty. And the toppings were fresh tasting too.
The sound at the venue was genuinely perfect. I'm a big sound guy and I have to say that they eq'ed and mic'ed everything with the precision that you expect from Japan. The show we saw heavily featured flute music so it was a little on the high end of the frequency spectrum, but it wasn't too bad, honestly. The music felt live and warm.
The staff was super friendly, and didn't make me or my wife feel weird or out of place for being gaijin who only sort of knew how to speak Japanese. They were friendly, professional, patient, and helpful.
