Facts first then fun. Drive the forest trail if you want a winding, narrow driver through the mountain side. 500 parking fee. 800 entry once at the actual park. Fun facts- the hike alone was worth the 1300¥. Beautiful riverside turns into a mountain trail. Steep steps at first but not to difficult. Once in the park the monkeys were all over. It was not to cold so none were in the hot springs. We spent 30 minutes being totally surrounded by the monkeys. I saw the monkeys were looking for seeds and I started looking for them too-DONT DO THAT IT IS AGAINST THE RULES! The park security was nice and pointed to the sign. Amazing place! Amazing staff! Amazing Monkeys.

It gets rather crowded as everyone wanted to take photos, but an absolute must visit regardless. The colder it is, the higher your chances are of seeing the monkeys soaking. Our ryokan recommended we go during the morning as the monkeys make their way back into the forests in the afternoon. PLEASE wear appropriate footwear during the snowy season! We visited mid-December when parts of the trail towards the park was ice and/or mud. Hiking or snow boots are recommended (you can hire them at the start of the trail).

What an amazing trip! We were lucky enough to get a lift from the Ryokan we were staying at, otherwise it would have been around an hour walk. It was a very nice scenic trail towards the park proper, if not a bit slippery! (You need to be quite careful getting to and from the park). Once we got to the park itself admission was 800 yen but definitely worth it as the monkeys were all out and running around, it was such a spectacular sight. Highly recommended visiting the snow monkeys if you get the chance.

It was a nice place and has very good ambiance. On my first time going there the male employee working (forgot his name not Japanese) was very accommodating and has deep knowledge regarding some things about the place. However, yesterday when I went back it was different. The place was still good but the staff working that shift (female staff) was having a hard time accommodating me and even some customers due to her lack of english knowledge. I suggest you put more people who can accommodate foreign nationalities. I was really saddened by the situation wherein she was having a hard time understanding what I was wanting to say. Nonetheless, place...

Snowmonkey Gift Shop offers a charming selection of unique items, but my experience was hindered by the lack of English-speaking staff. As a non-Japanese speaker, I found it difficult to communicate even basic inquiries, which led to frustration during my visit. Having English-speaking staff would greatly enhance the customer experience, making it easier for tourists to engage with the shop. This improvement could also boost sales, as clearer communication helps in understanding product details and promotions. Overall, while the shop has potential, better language support is crucial for...
