Two Rivers Mall, situated on Limuru Road in the Runda‑Gigiri area of northern Nairobi, is East Africa’s premier shopping and entertainment destination, sprawling across approximately 67,000 sqm and hosting over 200 stores . The architectural design delivers a modern, open layout dotted with art installations—giant baobabs wrapped in Kitenge fabric, stylized giraffes and hippos, and ambient lighting that emphasizes spacious walkways and natural light .
Inside, the anchor is Carrefour—the largest hypermarket in the region—surrounded by global brands such as Nike, Adidas, LC Waikiki, Swarovski, Hugo Boss, and local boutiques offering Kenyan-crafted goods . Retail zones are easy to navigate thanks to clear signage, and facilities include banks, pharmacies, optical shops, and a deluxe cinema complex that features the largest screen in East and Central Africa .
Beyond shopping, the leisure offerings are impressive: Two Rivers Theme Park (Magic Planet) houses rides like the Eye of Kenya Ferris wheel—Africa’s tallest at 60 meters with 40 enclosed cabins—chargeable rides such as the 17 m Drop Tower, flume ride, airborne shots, electric cars, wall climbing, skating, trampoline park, and acrobatic shows, typically KSh 500 per ride (~USD 5) . Central to the ambiance is the dancing fountain with choreographed lights and music, which draws crowds especially after dusk .
Dining choices range from fast-casual (KFC, Burger King, Hardee’s) to café and sit-down options like ArtCaffé, Ocean Basket, Java House Express, and Galitos, providing both international and local flavors . Green zones and landscaped gardens around the mall offer peaceful resting areas, creating a garden‑mall hybrid feel .
The mall includes large parking grounds with over 1,046 spaces and strict, state-of-the-art security scanning systems for explosives and weapons detection—approaching airport-level standards but based on non-invasive screening . Accessibility is facilitated via Limuru Road or the Northern Bypass, linking key suburban neighborhoods like Muthaiga, Gigiri, and Runda with minimal congestion .
Public sentiment is largely appreciative—Reddit users often cite Two Rivers as more impressive than other Nairobi malls, calling it “even bigger than expected” and positioning it as a must‑visit due to its size and entertainment focus .

Location
It missed a star for location. Unless you live around the area, there is quite a commute involved. If you are coming from the CBD you would take the Kiambu matatus or buses and if you are coming from Kikuyu, there are matatus that will drop you right at the entrance. The Kikuyu matatus going to Kiambu stop at every stop possible making it a tiresome long journey.
You can also get to Westlands and take an uber for around KES 600.
Experience
Third time here and this time I had a lot of time to explore.
There are the usual culprits found in every other mall with crazy price points. The shops, stores, supermarkets, eateries, casinos.....
What sets this mall aside is the space. I believe this is the only mall where you have something resembling a walking park around the water way. They have a green space where you can sit, read or just chat.
They have a good mix of both indoor and outdoor game areas.
There is the fun space area where the ferris wheel is. Sort of a mini amusement park.
There is a skating area. Quite worn out though. Prices range from KES 300 to KES 500
There is the boat area and archery area. Prices range from KES 300 to KES 500 as well.
There is the go kart area. This is probably the most expensive activity at around KES 3000 for 10 minutes.
The indoor gaming space was being renovated, but I suspect those games would also be a bit on the higher side.
Either way, they have an assortment of activities for everyone and every pocket.
They normally have a DJ outside near the skating space just outside the sort of food court. Very loud music in my opinion, but would be great as a dancing venue. Play nice dancing music and invite people to just dance.
Food wise, nothing really stands out, but there is something for everyone.
This mall serves not only families and groups, but works really well for solo travellers as well.
If you are looking to treat yourself on a solo date, you can start off at the movies, have lunch, take the ferris wheel @KES 500, take a boat ride @KES 300, walk around the water way, and finish off with a cup of coffee. With KES 3000, you can definitely have a lovely time.
If you want to partake in more activities you will definitely need a bigger budget.

Read moreVisiting the best and biggest mall in Eastern Africa was an unforgettable experience. This mall truly offers something for everyone, making it a must-visit destination. One of the activities that stood out for me was the MadMax Karting, where I enjoyed racing arcade cars in an exhilarating and competitive atmosphere. The thrill of speeding around the track was unmatched, and it set the tone for an exciting day.
Another highlight was the bowling alley, where I had a blast knocking down pins with friends. The state-of-the-art facilities and lively ambiance made it a fantastic place to unwind and have fun. The mall also houses a variety of electronic shops, including renowned brands like Samsung, offering the latest gadgets and technology. For tech enthusiasts, this was a paradise.
I was delighted by the range of hotels and supermarkets within the mall, providing convenience and variety for every need. The jewellery shops showcased exquisite pieces, adding a touch of luxury to the shopping experience. However, the rollercoaster and merry-go-round were the attractions I loved the most. The rollercoaster provided an adrenaline rush, while the merry-go-round offered a nostalgic ride that was both relaxing and enjoyable.
The mall is designed to be everyone's choice for everything, featuring beautifully landscaped gardens and serene pools that offer a peaceful retreat from the bustling shopping areas. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there are residential estates within the mall, creating a unique blend of living and leisure spaces.
The endless parking spaces in the basements, spread across multiple stories and equipped with lifts, added to the convenience of visiting the mall. Finding a parking spot was effortless, and the lifts made navigating the large complex easy.
