This is my first time writing any kind of review, so this shows how nasty this incident was. Today, I had a slight panic attack and was extremely nauseous and dizzy. I knew drinks weren’t allowed inside, but I wanted to ask the staff for advice on the best course of action since I was feeling extremely nauseous and unwell. The only thing that managed to help, and the only thing I had since I couldn’t get water, was a Red Bull.

One woman shouted, “You can’t go! Come back, come back here!” even though I wasn’t going anywhere; I stood still close-ish to her three coworkers. Another woman came over, giggled/laughed in my face, and called over another coworker. She began belittling me, talking to me as if I was inferior, and said, “If you feel that way then go leave, go drink, then come back.” I said “Okay?” and went away to drink. I saw all three women laughing and staring at me. I knew they were all talking about me but I decided to be the bigger person (mind you, all four women are significantly older than me).

After I got checked and went through, my mother, who was still there, informed me that they were still talking about me and the incident while laughing out loud. I have never encountered such soulless and apathetic people in my life. How can someone be so apathetic to another human being, especially when you know, because they told you, they’re feeling unwell. This was a very, very distasteful experience and I am very ashamed on their behalf. May they one day realize their nasty behaviour. Just because you feel bad in your personal life, it doesn’t mean you can or should pour out your anger and pain on others. Be better, do better. This is shameful to their beautiful country.

Apathetic and ignorant people have no place in customer service. The staff were unbelievably awful, and I was genuinely shocked. Their lack of empathy and professionalism was beyond appalling. I expected a basic level of courtesy and assistance, but instead, I was met with rudeness and disdain. I was made fun of, in front of my entire family and strangers. It was an incredibly frustrating and disheartening experience, and I can't believe how poorly I was treated in a situation where I needed...

Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful treatment at Riga Airport security (14.07.2025) On July 14th, my husband and I went through security at Riga Airport and faced a series of unprofessional and frustrating incidents. A female officer told us not to remove electronics or power banks from our backpacks — an instruction that contradicts standard airport procedures. Later, my husband's backpack was opened without his knowledge, and staff removed his devices and placed them into a tray. Meanwhile, my own backpack — which also contained a power bank and a camera — was completely ignored. The inconsistency was troubling. When my husband questioned why his bag had been unpacked, another female staff member approached and insisted she had shown us the tray earlier and asked, “Is this your bag?”, claiming that we had denied it was ours — which was untrue. We both looked and clearly saw that the tray contained someone else’s belongings. She repeated her claim several times, ignored our responses, rolled her eyes, and walked away. It felt dismissive and unfair. Additionally, a tray with two bottles of hand sanitizer and small personal items never reappeared. A staff member said he would check but never returned. Later, we realized our sunglasses were also missing. While we can’t say for certain that they were taken by staff, the overall conduct — rummaging through our belongings without consent and misplacing trays — raises serious doubts and concern. During the process, we overheard staff speaking in Latvian and making inappropriate comments — including remarks about my husband while he was removing his belt. They also continued to discuss us within earshot, as if we couldn’t understand. This experience left us feeling disrespected, confused, and extremely disappointed. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and condescending attitude from the staff were unacceptable for an international airport. Travelers...

We want to use the flights from Finland, but there is a problem with transfers. There is no problem with flying. They provide basic services, but professionally. You are good Airbaltic! But the same cannot be said about the airport. The plane will take you from Tampere to Riga at early morning. You often have to wait 5-6 hours for the transfer, but sometimes more. That is why useful and good services are important. The airport is small, so the gates are crowded when the plane takes off. There aren't enough seats or you have to walk a lot to get to a deserted part of the airport where there is space. There are no "sleeping capsules", and very few chairs suitable for sleeping. At 7 am, we couldn't find fresh baked goods or sandwiches, but the old food was as expensive as in the biggest airports in Europe. There is no place for regular restaurants, instead there are many small cafes with simple food. If you want to go into the city center, you cannot safely use the luggage storage service, because its opening hours are unpredictable. Every day is different. I talked to one of the ladies who works there and she said it's always changing. It depends on how many people get it or are sick. So you'll probably have to take your cabin luggage into the city. The airport bus is cheap and fast. Unfortunately, there is no English-language application for purchasing tickets.

I like Airbaltik's business strategy. From Tampere they take you quickly to Riga and from there I can reach many other stations as well. I'm glad that I don't have to make an expensive trip to Helsinki or park my car at a terrible price. We tried the transfer in Riga, but we are a bit disappointed. I can eat expensive simple food, but I can't buy many other things either, because Airbaltic's "8kg rule" blocks my shopping options. Sometimes I felt like I was standing in the middle of the airport with my bank card and I couldn't spend my money...

Riga International Airport, located in the capital of Latvia, serves as a crucial hub for the Baltic region. It offers a range of services that cater to both local and international travelers. Services and Amenities: The airport provides essential amenities such as free Wi-Fi, a variety of dining options, duty-free shopping, and lounges. While the selection of restaurants and shops is adequate, it lacks the extensive variety found in larger international airports. The airport is generally clean and well-maintained, though seating areas can become crowded during peak times. Airlines and Destinations: Riga International Airport hosts a mix of full-service and low-cost airlines. It is the primary hub for airBaltic, the national carrier, which offers numerous connections to European cities. Other airlines operating at the airport include Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa, among others. The airport’s network covers many European destinations and some long-haul routes, providing reasonable connectivity for travelers. History and Architecture: Established in 1973, Riga International Airport has undergone several expansions and modernizations to accommodate increasing passenger traffic. The architecture is functional with a mix of Soviet-era design and modern additions. The latest renovations have added a contemporary feel to the terminal, though some parts of the building still reflect its older, utilitarian roots. Controversies: Riga International Airport has faced some controversies over the years, particularly regarding management and development projects. Issues have included delays in construction projects and disputes over noise regulations with nearby residents. These controversies have occasionally affected the airport’s reputation and operational efficiency.

Riga Airport is modern, efficient, and well-organized, making travel smooth and pleasant. It offers a good selection of shops, cafes, and free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal. One of its great advantages is easy access from the city center via bus No. 22. The ticket costs only €1.50 if bought in advance from kiosks or stores. Note: Tickets are not sold on the bus, so make sure to purchase them beforehand.

Riga International Airport is the international airport of Riga, the capital of Latvia, and the largest airport in the Baltic states with direct flights to 76 destinations as of November 2019. It serves as a hub for airBaltic, SmartLynx Airlines and RAF-Avia, and as one of the base airports for Ryanair. The Latvian national carrier airBaltic is the largest carrier that serves the airport, followed by Ryanair. The airport is located in the Mārupe Municipality west of Riga, approximately 10 km from its city center. The airport features a single, two-storey passenger terminal building, which has been expanded and upgraded to modern standards several times in recent years. The landside consists of a main hall containing a single row of 36 check-in counters as well as some shops and the security area on the upper floor while the arrivals area, baggage reclaim and some service counters are located on the ground floor below. The airside features departure areas B and C split up into two piers with the former original, smaller boarding area A now only used for some arrivals. Both piers feature overall eight stands with jetbridges plus four walk-boarding stands from the upper level as well as several more gates for bus boarding on their ground levels. The B pier is used for Schengen Area departures and arrivals, while the C pier is for non-Schengen Area departures and arrivals. The terminal features outlets by Narvesen, Costa Coffee, and TGI Fridays, amongst others, as well as a single airport lounge.
