I recently visited San Onsen at KSL Esplanade Hotel, and it was an overall wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a serene and calming atmosphere that set the tone for a perfect retreat.
Tasha, the front desk attendant, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She made sure that I felt welcomed and comfortable right from the start. Her warm and professional demeanor truly enhanced the experience, making the entire visit even more enjoyable.
The Onsen itself is a tranquil oasis that allowed me to unwind and rejuvenate completely. The natural hot spring was incredibly soothing, and I could feel the stress melt away as I relaxed in the warm waters. The facilities are impeccably clean, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect.
I also opted for a massage, which was a decent complement to the Onsen experience. While the therapist was pleasant and tried her best, she seemed somewhat inexperienced and not as attentive as I would have liked. It felt like she might be a newer masseuse. Despite this, the massage was still acceptable and provided a degree of relaxation, though it didn't quite reach the level of the rest of the experience.
Overall, San Onsen offers a healing retreat that caters to both the body and mind, with just a bit of room for improvement in the massage service. It was still a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and I left feeling mostly rejuvenated. I recommend this retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful and restorative experience, with the hope that the massage services will continue to improve. Definitely will come again soon and bring my...
Read moreThe most authentic Japanese onsen experience you can get in Malaysia. Strictly no photography allowed in premises for obvious reasons. Disposable underwear is provided for shy guests. The hair shampoo and body shampoo smells delightfully Malaysian, and the onsen waters are certified to have minerals in them. Next to the onsen area, there is a bath area (both Japanese traditional open bath area with stools to sit on and bath cubicles for shy guests) for guests to bathe before getting into the onsen waters and proper toilet cubicles. There are 3 pools: 1 with cool water, one at 32c,and the 3rd with the warmest water at 40c. There are LED boards indicating the water temperature. The place is well ventilated, and a plus point is that the pools do have some jacuzzi bubbles by the side for a nice lower back massage. There are some hooks by the walls to hang your bigger towels on.
After onsen, there is a lounge area where green tea and sweet mochi are served for guests to chill down.
A suggestion for improvement: *to provide yukata for guests to wear (when I was there, there was none provided) *For the lounge area to provide a hot and cold water dispenser, some guests may prefer to have some ice cold water to cool down after the steamy onsen session *Also, appreciate if there is stricter control on guests bringing in camera or smartphones into the onsen area. There were some "influenzars" who sneaked in their DSLR cameras and happily flash photographing away despite having fully naked patrons within the same onsen area. The onsen caretakers were alerted about the incident but not sure whether enforcement...
Read moreDear [Onsen Spa Management],
I am writing to share my experience during my recent visit to your onsen spa on 28th December 2024. This was my first time trying an onsen, and I was unfamiliar with the rules and procedures. Unfortunately, I did not receive clear instructions regarding the prohibition of bringing phones inside the onsen.
I inadvertently brought my phone in, and instead of addressing the issue discreetly, the staff member at the counter, who wears spectacles, reprimanded me with an unpleasant facial reaction and spoke quite loudly in front of other customers about the phone. As an adult, this public reprimand was both embarrassing and frustrating.
For future improvement, I suggest the following: Add a clear and visible sign at the onsen entrance stating that phones are not allowed. (Currently, the signage only mentions the need to shower first.) Provide staff with communication and customer service training, especially for those stationed at the counter. Establish a standardized SOP to ensure consistency in service delivery.
On a positive note, I want to express my gratitude to the staff member who performed my silk body massage (A malay woman with hair bun. I forgot to ask her name. Should put inside S.O.P for the staff to introduce their name to the customer). She was polite, soft-spoken and highly professional. 😊
I hope you will consider this feedback to improve your service quality.
Thank you for your attention.
Best...
