2 April 2022.

IT IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND LARGEST CONSUMER MARKETS IN MEXICO CITY, although let me inform you that there is other even MORE, MUCH BIGGER than this Mercado de la Merced...and it is the APOTHEOTIC CENTRAL SUPPLY CENTER OF MEXICO CITY !!!

But, for now we will focus on LA MERCED which is a Spectacular place!!!!!

In this place, the visitor can be 100% sure that they will find all their demands: with an EXCELLENT VARIETY, in:

• Vegetables • Fruit • Dry Fruits • Cereals • Cheeses • Sausages • Chilies • Fish • Meats • Seafood • Eggs • Legumes • Grains and Seeds • Candies • Flowers and plants • Floral arrangements • Stalls of exquisite Mexican food • Toys • Clothing • Footwear • Groceries • Items for parties that are celebrated during the year: Christmas Lent Baptisms New Year Child Parties Quineañeras Celebration Weddings, etc, etc, etc...

MERCED MARKET: AN EXCELLENCE for the...

First of all just contact Eat Mexico in order to do this safely and with some guidance. Adrian (our guide) is a cook/chef/culinary graduate (as we’re our other guides with other companies). Which made talking food a no brainer. He explained much more than I was bargain for about how the local “system” works all the way up! We moved effortlessly through the market (once we made it past the tents). The true market is very well lit and friendly. I don’t think there were many glances our way since he spends so much time there. Don’t expect your group to be more than 4 since there is not room. The only leer we got the 5 days in CDMX was entering the market and in Polanco the locals were amazed that we went there at all. Great food, great local guide information and really good...

Amazing experience exploring the market during prime time Saturday. Endless options for food that I estimate would take like 10 trips to try all of. Salsas were for locals — very spicy. Even my Mexican gf was having a hard time.

The interesting thing was that I barely saw any foreigners/tourists except maybe 2 or 3 out of the hundred(or thousands) of people I saw. Always felt safe other than the few times I had thoughts that if I was stabbed while deep in a market section and the locals kept their mouth shut I’d just disappear… half joking.

Was very interesting seeing how locals and shop owners alike sourcing products.

Overall an amazing experience but 4 stars for the...

I do find it fascinating. Chaotic but so original, you must visit, try some of the food cooked on stalls situated on the edge of the entrance, buy some fruit, vegetables, spices or have a beer watching the busy shoppers and sellers. It is really colourful, vibrant. You can get lost here, easily. The metro station entrance is right inside. But the market itself expands to the outer streets, diversifying into outlets of clothing, cooking, everything really. Today was a rainy day, a hash environment, wet and even more complicated to get your bearings. But nonetheless, i truly enjoyed coming here.

This place is on every YouTube travel channel and in all the guidebooks. I suppose it is a must visit, but you don’t really need to go here to find good food or discounted goods. So if you don’t like crowds and or large confusing markets, avoid this place. It is huge with different sections. You’d have to visit multiple times to be comfortable here. Also beware if it’s been raining, the streets surrounding the market, which are actually part of the market, become a muddy mess. With all that said, I found excellent food and the entire area is worth a stroll through.
