I do NOT recommend this museum. The security guard at the gate demonstrated that sexism is alive and well in Mexico City. He told me to leave my water bottle on a shelf outside the museum and claim it afterwards. I said to him, “Do you really think a solo female wants to leave her opened water bottle on a shelf that anyone can access? Who knows what could happen to it. Drugs could even be put in it.” He replied with, “You are stupid. Get out of here.” It’s the security guard on the right as you look at the photo. Obviously I did not visit the museum. I’m stunned by the rudeness of some of the staff at the museums here in Mexico City. I’ve found waiters and hotel staff to be helpful. Hey Culture Museum, give your staff training on customer service and dealing with other cultures. I will NOT ever visit...

I don't understand how this museum gets a 4.7. The vast majority if not entirety of what's on the ground floor and first floor are replicas, in what would be a good tour of world cultures for school children, but of zero interest whatsoever for anyone that has ever, in their entire life, been outside of Mexico to any of the cultures shown. Everything is fine but it's all replicas, also only in Spanish.

There are a few temporary exhibits throughout (including all of the top floor) which were better as they had real objects, but even there they were mostly "okay" in terms of curation.

If you are a Mexican schoolchild on a trip: great museum to introduce you to global cultures.

If you are a tourist from outside...

Housed in a building that's architecturally quite interesting, and the collection itself is a good way to get a general overview of cultures around the world. My main beef with the place is that it's hard to tell which pieces are genuine and which are replicas, and all signs and explanations were in Spanish (fair enough, maybe I should learn). Entry is free on Sundays (otherwise Mx$14), so you can use the facilities if nothing else. Worth a walk around though, you'll definitely see something interesting, but don't expect Templo Mayor standards. NOT wheelchair or old-folk friendly though, there are a...

It is a great place to meet Mediterranean cultures including Turkey and Egypt along with Asiatic cultures like Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Even though most of the sculptures are replicas, it allows you to see a vast variety of art that would be almost impossible to see in the same place if all the pieces were together, even in places like the Louvre or the British Museum. Additionally, on weekends there are group presentations in the yard that include music and dancing. There is also a free library here with a lot of history and geography books. The entrance is free and there is no charge for taking photos.
