Aventura Submarina — Local services in Oaxaca

I had two dives at Aventura Submarina. First of all I wanted to say that Jorge and his steerman is really nice and helpful. However I don't think the handling of the dives was very professional. We weren't asked of how many dives we had or had our licenses checked before signing up. I think this is important to gauge the experience of divers. The form we signed didn't had a minimum of information, no personal info (except name), no ICE no., no diving related info for our part, just the signature. Furthermore, we didn't go through any emergency procedures for the dive. Our first dive had very limited visibility

Went on a two tank dive with Duque on March 19th, 2025.

Overall it was very positive experience, Duque is personable and focused, clearly a great dive professional. Initial communication and booking was solid, he was able to pickup from my hotel. Fed us delicious pineapple on the boat and gave me recommendations where to eat around town.

Visibility was not great for the region (just bad timing) but we managed to see lots of fish along with other types of marine life. We could hear (and feel!) whales communicating nearby, which really cool experience and a first for me.

The diveshop was undergoing renovations at the time, so it did feel a little chaotic when we met up to gather gear, but I don't think that will be a relevant issue for long. Gear seemed to be a little bit older but also well maintained,...

In my opinion the two dives with them were semi-professional: first of all they didn't ask us for our dive licenses and how many dives we have done so far. So it is possible to go diving with them without having a license the dive instructor didn't wear a dive computer or something else. We were the only one who had it. So that was really annoying that we were diving only for 45/50 minutes and we still had enough aire to dive 60 minutes. The depth was only 15meters. They didn't split up the group in faster and slower air consumers moreover they didn't use a diving buoy to signal other boats that we are ascending at the end of our dive sometimes we lost the dive instructor and he was not really showing us...
