We booked our accommodation through Mistiques website directly, the photos of the unit accurately described it however it did not accurately describe it's location. I was attracted to the unit because the whole hallway had nice open windows, what I didn't know was that there was a construction site on the other side of that window that could see into our unit 24/7 as there were no blinds/curtains. This eliminated any sense of privacy and made our stay somewhat intimidating with construction workers watching us. I was excited for the nice jungle view also which was ruined by the construction site, be careful to find out the full details of your rental prior to making your reservation as the photos are misleading in respect to their location. Our unit was not properly cleaned, there was towels left in the washer, a dirty pillow case left on the sofa, and the garbages were not changed. There was also lots of garbage on the ledge of the pool balcony by the pool. The Concierge did take a long time to respond and will not respond after 6pm so please make sure all of your needs are met prior to that time. The security guard was helpful for booking taxis. There was no dryer in our unit, only a washer (ad said washer and dryer). The resturant and gym were very nice and there is a small convenience store at the location. It was about 30-350 pesos to get a taxi into town (one way), we found it was cheaper to rent a scooter.
The location of Mistique Temple was a little scary, it was off of a very rugged non-lit side road. You have to pass a few construction sites to get there and there are a lot of intimidating construction men on this road always. The road that Mistique Temple is on is in between downtown Tulum and the Hotel Zone, the police will either set up a ride-check on the way to the Hotel Zone or on the way to town at different times, if you are a tourist the Police WILL stop you (if you are not in a taxi as they don't want to dis-service the locals). The Police will go through all of your belongings and attempt to find a reason to charge you CASH at whatever price they decide. After going through our wallets and counting our money they charged us for the exact amount of pesos we had in cash. Please be cautious when it comes to the police, make sure you have absolutely nothing bad on you and hide your money in your bra if you are female so they don't see how much you have. Men, they will go through your wallets and pockets. They will try to take advantage of you and scare you, this has happened on both of our trips to mexico simply because we look like tourists.
I would suggest staying somewhere closer to town or closer to the hotel zone, the location and construction of this accommodation really took away from the relaxation portion of...
Read moreI will be as honest with my experience here. I travel quite a bit and this was my second time in Tulum. Firstly, the hotel made it a point to reply to me through whatsapp quickly before arriving to the hotel, but as you will read this changes after. I believe because this is a newer hotel it is stil very unorganized and the images, and information given is misleading. Be sure to read all reviews before booking. Most roads are still not paved in Tulum but the one coming to the hotel specifically is sooo rough and lots og construction around the hotel which means loud noise all day. You can walk to the main road but its about 5-7 mins in a dirt road. I came here specifically because we were told there was a restaurant and free shuttle to the beach and that was a big asset, however nothing else is around here without driving so If you want to eat or need to go to the store after 5pm...Goodluck paying way too much for a cab. They helped set up a car for us from airport here and we got into an accident on our way and then they dropped us off at the incorrect Mistiq!!!!! BTW this happened to many people we spoke to so make sure you're going to the correct one, we got sent to 2 other Mistiq's before getting to the coreect one and had to pay 25$ for a 5 min drive which they did not offer to compensate us for. Wifi, is an issue in general in Tulum but here it's worse even to get your data to connect. They stopped replying to my messages when we needed something once we arrived or it took hours to get a reply. If you need fresh towels, Goodluck. They tell you that you get new ones after 4 days and when we asked on day 4 they said "if we have clean ones". Bring your own iron, blow dryer, soap and towels for the beach/pool. We had to extend our stay 1 night and they were very helpful with a new room but the new room had mold EVEERYWHERE and smelled so moldy and then the AC fan was broken so it was making loud noises and we couldnt get a new room bwcause everyone stops working at 5pm except security who arent very helpful with anything except ordering taxis. I am not a person who just looks for something to complain about. Even through all of it, we tried to make the best of our time but like I said, it was misleading online. Thankfully our first room was nicer. I personally would not stay here again since the first time I stayed at a villa was much easier, even though we were further from the beach and didn't have a shuttle. I highly suggest getting a driver or renting a car and staying closer to stores/reataurants that done close early.. Trust me, it's a lot of money up front for a car/driver but paying 50$ USD sometimes for a 10 min drive, you'll save waaay more money. Thanks for reading...

This hotel seems cheap and may look nice, but that's when the trouble starts! Unfortunately all the bad reviews are true, which we ignored because we thought it's just people who like to complain.
Construction noise starts at 6AM until 8PM and is extremely loud The service is really unorganised and bad and especially rude incl. insults and threats Water in the apartment is off a lot The free shuttle to the beach, even when you book through the concierge and get confirmation, will either be full anyways, not be booked or randomly not be going If you rent a bike through them and get confirmation you still won't get one Mold everywhere, especially the kitchen utensils and plates because they make their guests clean them A lot of items that are included in the booking are missing and they don't supply them, e.g. Toilet paper, dryer, coffee machine No cleaning/maintenance at all during your stay Taxis are way more expensive than they tell you, around 450 MXN one way to town or beach Elevators didn't work half the time Frequent Power Outages, while other hotels have a generator, they don't Late at night before you leave while you're in a Restaurant or busy you receive a message with a long list of to-dos before you leave that are normally the hotel's business None of the languages it says they speak they actually speak Very thin walls and you hear everything from everywhere, especially the neighbors and through the circle shape Random people show up at your door asking for a security deposit which they forgot to take at check in and threatening to call the police and vacate you if you don't pay these people immediately. After I negotiated to pay at reception to make sure it's the right people they never showed up at the agreed time Deposit is ridiculuosly high at 10,000 MXN Trash bins downstairs are overflowing and it smells so bad with all the trash around it.
It's an apartment project and not a hotel and the people who run it have no idea or experience on...
