My partner and I are currently staying at Jade Tulum.
Good: If your looking for a cute aesthetic this hotel definitely has that! It’s absolutely gorgeous and the proximity to the main areas of Tulum is ideal. Iv seen other reviews about elevators and hot water not working but they must have recently had these concerns fixed.
Bad: The noise levels are pretty ridiculous, I don’t just mean the construction or other sounds of the city but we had staff in the courtyard talking/yelling/playing games until 3am. And the walls are paper thin so you can always hear people coming and going.
Privacy is an illusion. All of the balconies face each other and some over look others which means that the beautiful romantic private pools and hot tubs are more or less shared. So if your thinking you might like to enjoy your hot tub with your partner at night also be prepared to be sharing it with your neighbour. This evening, coming down the stairs to the lobby I was confronted by a man using his tub on his balcony. Awkward and uncomfortable for both of us I’m sure.
The rooms Are not particularly clean (we had cigarette butts in our pool) and don’t feel entirely secure. Our doors are just a small door lock and both safes in our room had no power. Given other reviews about things being stolen I’m not overly shocked.
Ugly: We read online that there was a hotel restaurant, but when we asked at the lobby we’re told no, only “room service” we checked in late and decided room service was our best option. Looked them up online and the menu seemed good. Much to our dismay it took over two hours for the order to show up. Gross, cold and soggy and there is still a mandatory tip applied. Turns out the “restaurant” is downtown Tulum and happens to deliver to this hotel. Do yourself and your digestive system a favour and skip it.
The biggest concern and what I think people should really know about this hotel is that just over the exterior walls is a “tent city” for unhomed people. And you’re about two blocks from some pretty impoverished areas that my partner and I, who travel a lot and both live in large cities, felt unsafe.
All in all, wouldn’t stay here again there are much...
