Island BBQ — Local services in Ōtara-Papatoetoe

I hadn’t been to IslandBBQ in a while so always trusted their food, their portions, everything. So yesterday, Sun 17/3 my partner and I were pretty hungry and I had been out most of day out Manukau, so decided to get IslandBBQ on way home. So I preordered 2x rump steak & mushroom meals, 2 desserts and 2 sprite. I put on special instructions “No Mac Salad as we don’t eat pasta”. Was advised pickup 3.50pm. Got to IslandBBQ, advised another 10mins. I went dairy, waited and was told again wait about 5-7mins. While waiting I saw some flies flying around over food on the floor. Order was ready almost to an hour. Get home and: The mushroom sauce was cooked in flour and water so was cooked in gravy instead. we had no salads in our meals. We didn’t want the Mac Salad so they decide to not include the other salads it should go with (green salad and coleslaw) medium rare was well done desserts meant to have cream instead they put some disgusting melted chocolate ice cream or mousse.

Spent $77 so wasn’t happy AT ALL so I emailed them straight away yesterday and messaged them on messenger with the images. They had read my messages but didn’t respond until tonight. They responded “sorry for late reply, I talk to staff and got to know the issue” Next thing they block me on Facebook lol going to deal with complaints commission next. I want a full...

Please be aware of this place. I ordered some meat worth just over $1,000 including a delivery fee for my son's 1st birthday. The food arrived about 3 hours late and there was no communication whatsoever from the owners about this. We ended up cutting our programme short because we were waiting for them and after calling them multiple times with no response including sending someone over to the actual shop to check what is going on, they finally emailed and called me after two hours and apologized that the order was late because their ovens broke down. Also, we ordered the pulled pork, and they advised us after 2 hours that they can't provide the pulled pork but have added more chicken wings and ribs to the order. This is pathetic and very bad service. I am thinking of asking for some of my money back from these people. So disappointing and how can you forget an order like mine which was worth so much money. Not my first time here but this place deserves the 5 stars

Food is amazing breath taking wouldve been yummy especially with the rice but i didn't want to wait an extra 20 minutes for the rice as i was hungry haha which is understandable because they prefer to serve their food hot and thats a really good thing and i really do appreciate it haha

Service was great straight forward onto it no muck arounds very attentive to details when taking orders not to mention when order is ready they really yell out so they are loud and clear which allowed us to sit in our car and wait which was perfect especially in this cold weather haha

Wait wasnt that long especially for the food i ordered with it being bbq nice and hot was perfect
