CHOICE KAI OTARA — Restaurant in Ōtara-Papatoetoe

Man… tonight I was just scrolling through Uber Eats looking for something different since it’s been a minute, and boom—Choice Kai popped up under a new store. Had to give it a go, and honestly… best decision ever.

I got the steak with creamy mushrooms on fries, and bro… it was on. Hit every craving, full of flavour, cooked perfect, and that creamy sauce was something else. Also got the chop suey and potato salad… tasted straight up like homemade kai, cooked with proper love.

This spot is it. Real soul food with heart. You can taste the effort and care in every bite. I’m coming back for sure… over and over. Don’t ever stop doing what you do Choice Kai—you’ve got something special going on.

Service was on from front staff and kitchen staff. Creamed pāua with steak on fries was teno reka pāua not fully minced still have pieces to feel and chew on most definitely can taste the pāua flavour you have the choice of rice or fries cost $25 worth it in my opinion . Chop suey and potato salad price was $16.50 was bomb definitely will be recommending them to family and friends for the kai they offer bro the banoffee and passionfruit cheesecake was delightful 2 separate cheesecakes obviously but will definitely be returning back for more of them yummy kai cost for the 2 cheesecake...

Ordered through Ubereats tonight- if I could give no stars, I would

Pāua cream fry bread burger with chips- hardly any meat or pāua sauce, the one small piece of lettuce looked sad and wilted. Chips looked like they were stale and burnt (initially thought they were kūmara chips with the way it looked)

Steak on rice with pāua sauce- 97% rice, 1% pāua sauce and 2% steak

Creamy mushroom and chicken fettuccine- hardly any meat and dish as a whole was bland, no taste, not even salt

Please do better, good money...
