Oh my god, what can I say about this place? Yes, the owner appears to be a very grumpy man. But he's OK. I did see Nim from the local dairy come in one day and crack a few jokes with him and he even smiled! So he can't be all that bad! Although I never managed to raise a smile, myself. Not that I tried or anything. I wasn't even courageous enough to tell him I didn't need the plastic fork. I just took it home and put it in the recycling. Yes, he is a slightly forbidding figure. ...the food is decent. It's not the best of the best middle eastern food, but it's very tasty. The lunch special (chicken and rice) is good value and everything else costs more than that. I see reviews where people are complaining about price and/or portion size. Well, there's nothing else around. I though both were reasonable. I went here at least once a week when I lived in the area. And I would go again tomorrow if I were back...

The food is alright, not bad but not outstanding either however, the reason for the one star is due to the price, service and portions. Price- $17.50 for a large chicken on rice dish is ridiculous and their 'large' serving is other kebab store's small or medium serving. Service- the older man who served me was rude, obnoxious and uninterested. I asked him to show me how big the 'large' serving was which he replied to 'why do you want to see, it is very good kebab'. Luckily for him, this is the only kebab store in the area without having to travelling to central Takapuna. Portion- ridiculous. I was genuinely shocked at the 'large' serving he gave me. Friendly staff, my husband and I usually order the lamb wrap, with the recommended sauces, for a change with 4 other lunch guests during level 3.2 lockdown we had an outside picnic, they checked the menu, we suggest wraps as not too large, but they are foodie type guests and wanted to check things out, so they did, 3 of them ordered off the salad menu, I was blown away at the size and quality of the packaging, all napkins and plastic cutlery included for them, mine was as expected in a paper bag with a napkin, easy.
