Be wary of booking. I have been a member of ACCC for over 30 years. The facility has brought the community together and I have made many friends there, which I see weekly. On Sunday 10/11, we had been using the basketball court all day playing basketball, kids are playing from 9am, under 17s boys in the afternoon, womens training and then mens from 4pm (weekly event). The air conditioning units had been on all day to help circulate fresh cool air on to the court as it was a hot day and this is why they were installed. Another group of people had booked and were using the lounge space for a mahjong tournament this day. The new chairman of the ACCC was a part of this event, he suddenly comes to the basketball court around 430pm and turns off the air conditioning for no reason and takes away the key that allows you to operate it. I assume the reason must be because this operates the air conditioning in the lounge area too and they were getting cold? But he did not ask us if it’s ok to turn it off, nor did he talk with us about it… he merely turned the key to off, and took the key away. Read moreA well organized function to see the New Year in. First time I have attended this annual event and congratulations to all the organizers who made it all happen. It sort of reminded me of the Manhattan (in Mt Roskill) in the 70's which was sometimes called 'Dance for the desperates', without the phones at the tables though.
