The Gaff Cafe & Eatery — Restaurant in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu

To the management and Team at Gaff Cafe, on behalf of my family and myself I would like to leave this review to show our appreciation and respect in return for the first class treatment we received. We had a last minute family bfast and my daughter who lives near recommended Gaff , we called first to book but we were told come and let's see what we can do. We are a family of 10..and here are the key things that blew me away which often its the opposite at some food outlets. The staff ( lady) who greeted us never failed making us feel welcomed so thank you and so was the manager with his effective leadership! The cafe was so busy yet him and staff never turned us away instead he told staff "let's make it happen team, there's a family of 10 needing a table, thank you for your wonderful hospitality despite the high demands , the food was fantastic , reasonably priced and loved the flexible dining spaces. My grandkids loved the outdoor play area too. Thank you so much for making our first visit a pleasant one and we will return but promise we will book well in advance to avoid the stress for staff not that they showed any at all on the day instead they persevered for customer's satisfaction and with a smile. I was just there last night it was my first time there. We booked for 25-30 people. I thought we would only be a group of 15 but was surprised that more people from our group arrived and it looked like there was 40 yikes. I felt bad for the people running the place. They made no fuss about our extras and grabbed us more chairs and tables and got most of our food out fast and stress free. The food was mostly good. I ordered the fajita and rated it an 8/10. Mixed reviews about the ribs. My kids rated it a 12 /10 but my aunty found it too salty. The steak was very small. Those who ordered the steak finished their food fast and still looked hungry. So please dont expect a big portion it looked measley compared to the other dishes. I personally wouldnt go for the steak if you want a big meal. The service was a 10/10. The venue a 9.5/10. Kudos to the waitress who served our over estimated large group with her beautiful smile and being calm with us. What a legend! I had heard plenty of mixed reviews about this place and as a massive foodie, I was keen to try it out for myself and see what it was about, however every time I went past it was always packed, but today was my lucky day! I ordered the taro latte and it was absolutely delicious and everything I thought it would, be as well as the waffles which came with a succulent piece of fried chicken, crispy bacon, caramelised banana and bits of strawberry. The waffle itself was yummy, moist and not dry like other waffles I’ve had, the chicken was beautifully cooked and had lots of flavour and everything else complimented the main elements of the dish perfectly 👌🏾 the staff were very friendly and helpful, the service was exceptional, every single staff member greeted my family and I as we walked in which made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The cafe itself was beautiful and as a 5th generation Mangere Bridge local it was nice to hear the history of the building itself and I loved the playlist that was playing (can never go wrong with 90s rnb) all in all I had a very pleasant experience and will definitely be back to try the rest...
